Crafting my Leadership Story Chapter 1: From nursey school (kindergarten) I attended a local school in the village. The distance was about 20 kms one way. Being six years old, I had to learn how to be tough and strong to wake every morning and take that long walk to school. They were strict rules to be on time and never late. My class consisted of pupils from different parts of the county. Some with no basis needs like food and proper clothing’s. I feel that the strict rules and regulations at that school shaped me into an overall obedient and respectful person. I learned how to keep time, proper grooming techniques from the uniform’s standards, and how to be a respectful to pupils and teachers, because we were all monitored very closely. The values that I learned while in the primary school in the village was to treat people with respect no matter what their background was. To be kind and practice empathy. Chapter 2: There was a student I met in fifth grade named Mary. She had just transferred from a school in the city. They moved in the village after their father died and could not afford to leave in the city anymore. She was different other girls in my class. She liked rock music, had fringe bangs, and wore skinny jeans. We soon became friends, and she made me realize that I was different from all the other girls at my class too. She gave me a different perspective on life and taught me to think for myself. I thought being myself would make me look like a troublemaker. She opened my eyes to different thoughts and helped my form the person that I am today. When I moved to the United States, at my first job as a housekeeper, a fellow coworker became my mentor. I worked at the Hilton where I met Nancy, a fellow housekeeper. She had been working there for over 10 years. She was the first person I became friends with at the hotel and she always had my back if I messed up. She taught me to take responsibility for my mistakes and learn how to fix my mistakes before they even happened. I matured a lot within the year of working there, and Nancy helped me to become a better worker. Because of her kindness and patience, I became better at my job, and better at working through my problems.

Chapter 3: I remember one time we were short staffed, and we had some many check out rooms to clean. During our 1000 break me and the other girls were talking how we are going to manager cleaning all those rooms. One of the others suggested that we just made the beds without changing the bed sheets. All the girls agreed if the sheets looked clean not to change them. After the break was over, we all went to our locations. At that moment I had heard my mother’s voice telling me to do the right thing. I knew I had changed all the bed sheets regardless how long it’s going to take to complete the rooms assigned to me. My mother always talked me to about integrity and at that moment I knew what to do even if no one was watching. Chapter 4: I feel that the “true joy of life” is pursing what makes you happy, whether it’s traveling, making music, or even hiking. If you find something that fulfills you, you should go for it, no matter what others think of you. Leaving a legacy is important to me, and my family, friends or meet I met along the way to remember me as kind, a motivator and someone with integrity...
