COM 101: Textual Analysis Assignment (Academic Argument) Instructions:  Write a multi-paragraph essay (approximately 700 words in length); include a thesis statement in your introduction, two to three body paragraphs, and a conclusion.  DOUBLE-SPACE your essay and use ONE side of the paper only.  Organize your support in advance, and proofread carefully for grammar, spelling, and mechanics. Use specific support from “The Money” by Junot Diaz in your essay. If you use quotations, make sure you analyze and discuss why you have included them  (DO NOT simply insert a quotation and move on)  You may print out your OWN copy of the reading and bring it to class. Please note I will NOT be providing a copy for you.  Your essay is an analysis of Diaz’s essay, not an opinion piece about the subject matter. No personal opinions, generalizations, or anecdotes are required. Focus on analyzing the language in the essay.
