Due to Fidel Castro’s revolution, Lucia was sent from Cuba to America like Your Paragraph(s) many others as part of Operation Pedro Pan. This could cause plenty of turmoil Response: and conflict for Lucia, since her life would change drastically due to the new environment she will be in. It could also cause her to sadness due to not being able to communicate with her mother or know of her health, causing her to feel worried for her mother or homesick. The children not being able to see their parents, even more so since they thought they would reunite with their parents after a few weeks but actually had to wait years due to a missile crisis. I would be very sad, confused, and homesick, as I would be in a completely Your Paragraph(s) different environment from what I am used to. I would miss my parents and Response: the luxuries I was able to enjoy at home. A few challenges due to this would be things like being unable to fall asleep due an animal you might be afraid of (It was said in the text that Julio A. Martinez was unable to fall asleep due to the rattle snakes making him afraid), try to get my parents from Cuba (It was said in the text that the children desperately tried to get their parents out of Cuba), deal with school despite being taught by people that are unfamiliar most likely, struggle living without the aid and care of your parents, and try to continue maintaining balance in my life.

The experience might make them sadder or stronger, as they will have to survive almost on their own due to not having parents but still having other children from Cuba to befriend for emotional support possibly. Having friends can help their identity development, which will help with social and emotional cognitive development (Since they all will have something to relate to: Wishing their parents were with them). Their identity status’s will most likely be Identity Moratorium or a diffused identity, due to them most likely just worrying about their parents and not their identity status. Having an achievement identity status would be unlikely since the children would be sad and probably not the be most confident. A foreclosure identity status would also be likely, since the children could just retain their identity from before they were sent to America. Pedro Pan flight veterans mark 50th anniversary
