02.04 Social Development in Childhood Question 1: In the article, it stated, “Now I know what’s wrong with me’, she said, I’m just a wire mother.” To me, this mother is an authoritarian parent. Meaning, she was very strict on her child and she didn’t allow her child to express their own opinions and thoughts. When she stated this, I feel that what she meant by it was that she wasn’t allowing her child to be who they are, they were having to conform to what she wanted them to be. Cloth mothers are the ones who offer their children comfort that was displayed from the monkey infants. Those who had cloth mothers were the ones who grew up satisfied with who they had become. Wire mothers on the other hand, doesn’t give their children the comfort they need and those grew up unhappy and delicate. Both monkeys were offered the same sorts of nutrients, amounts of milk, and exact money was given to both in the experiment. Question 2: Harlow conducted a study on monkeys. he had noticed how each monkey’s attachment varied towards the cloth and wire mothers. The monkey infants were seeing their mother beyond just comfort. Ainsworth studied the humans. in his study, he discovered that an infant that is in the same room with their mother, would walk around and explore that room, given the comfort that the mother had always portrayed to them while offering protection. When a stranger entered the room, the infants seemed to be calm with their mother by them. Both Harlow and Ainsworth found that they could learn more about humans through the exploration of other dynamics over the other....
