Mental disorders had become more evident and well-known from the time Lennie Devey wrote "Of Mice and Men" until his death, making people terrified of Lennie. According to researchers that looked into Lennie's case, if he or she had suffered from a mental illness in the past, they might have been healed using today's technology and understanding.
