My question is: Why do companies use stereotypes of genders to sell their products?

My question is important because I am a member of society where these ads are shown, and they are directed at me as a woman. I am part of the genders/races they are trying to stereotype their ads towards. I am also raising children of both genders and these ads are seen by them as well. I feel that stereotyping people is not good, and we should not have preconceived notions about people based off first glace. Social scientist likely would be interested in why women in ads are portrayed as crazy and unstable, while men are portrayed as the victim of the situation. They would also be interested in why making a woman feel inferior is necessary to sell a product made for them personally. The impact of these ads could be harmful to either gender and knowing why they use these tactics would be useful information. I believe both genders would be impacted by finding out the answers to the question since the ads are directed towards them personally. Knowing the reason companies use stereotypes to sell products could also help them realize what products they may not want to use due to the advertisement. Understanding human behavior and why the stereotypes are there could help break stigmas. Women would stop feeling like they are the inferior race and men would start looking at women as equals. Advancements in understanding behaviors and perception of ads could really cause companies to reevaluate the way they portray the genders....
