Claudius Character Analysis Journal Entry I was excited about the earlier play, but the current event about Mouse Trap makes me feel enraged. I am involved in a murder case about King Vienna. Besides, people say that I wanted to take the queen to be mine. The story was disgusting, but worried me is whether Hamlet knew about the story. Hamlet is becoming extremely dangerous at a higher rate. I would say he is a proud little turkey! I treated him somewhat, but in return, he offers me a snarky line coupled with a warning of danger. If Hamlet knows about the earlier events, I will England with a letter to execute him. Below is a quotation of Claudius's words; The king doth wake tonight and takes his rouse, Keeps wassail, and the swaggering up-spring reels; And as he drains his draughts of Renish down, (Rosenberg, 1992). Guilty haunts me every day, festering like an infection that I can never control. I am not a fan of religion, but I said a prayer that I cannot explain what I prayed. I either prayed for forgiveness or strength to keep thriving every day. His prayer is quoted below; My fault is past. But O, what form of prayer. Can serve my turn? Forgive me my foul murder? (Rosenberg, 1992). The existence of Hamlet frightens my life; I hope England accepts to slaughter him. Besides, Hamlet murdered Polonius and nearly killed Ophelia. Notably, Laertes came to me after the death of Polonius to request me to revenge on his behalf. I promise I have to keep my word. Since we cannot control Hamlet anymore, England must accept my proposal. However, if they do not slaughter Hamlet, we will employ my brilliant mind and Laertes's vital swordsmanship.
CLAUDIUS CHARACTER ANALYSIS Refelection on Claudius’ Feelings Claudius is not a complete sociopath. He feels quilt and sorry for the death of Polonius. Besides, he sympathizes with young Laertes for the death of his father (Rosenberg, 1992). Also, the character is gentle and sensitive. He understands he should kill Hamlet, but he is responsive, he does not kill with his own hands. Instead, he plots to send to England for execution.
