Abducted in Plain Sight

This twisting documentary contains talking head interviews with the Broberg family and a man named Robert Berchtold (aka “B”). Around the 1970’s in Pocatello, Idaho, young Jan Broberg and her family met Robert Berchtold at their church. “B” was a very charming man that used strong manipulation and grooming techniques with the Broberg family to get close to Jan. At that time, she was only 12 years old. The Charismatic Robert became like a second father to Jan. In order to gain full access to Jan; Robert was able to woo her parents until they became blind to what he was up to. Robert wanted to have control over the family and Jan all to himself. Both of her parents even engaged in sexual acts with Robert. Robert knew what he was doing. He even told the Brobergs that his psychologist’s prescription was to spend multiple nights in bed sleeping next to a little girl. For some bizarre reason, even though Jan’s parents were not comfortable with Robert’s profound obsession with their daughter, they still allowed him around her saying it was for his treatment. He took photos on only Jan on multiple accounts. One day Berchtold said he was taking Jan horseback riding after her piano lessons. They never returned. Now the Brobergs were going to call the police, but was convinced not to by Gail, Robert’s wife. After several more days had passed, Jan’s family finally called the FBI and still reluctant to consider that their daughter was kidnapped. They believe Robert had did nothing wrong at first. During the first kidnapping, Robert drugged and molested poor Jan. He used recording to convince Jan she was an alien and she must populate the alien world to save it and of course her mate would be “B”. Being a kid and waking up from being drugged nearly the whole time she was gone, believed the recordings. Jan believed she was a part of a special mission that only her and “B” was involved in. He convinced her to keep it a secret to protect his own mission. Jan was hooked like a fish. She did not think secondly about what was happening, she was only worried about the aliens coming on her 16th birthday if she didn’t follow the mission. During the kidnapping, Robert married Jan in Mexico and was refusing to return to the states unless he was given permission to marry her. Luckily, Robert’s brother intervened and told the FBI the location of “B” and Jan. Berchtold was arrested but charges was dropped by the Brobergs and the still did not cut off communication with the man. Robert only spent 10 days in prison. This is why two years later, Jan was taken again. Jan was gone for months. Robert called

Wright 2 repeatedly during Jan’s disappearance claiming he does know where Jan is and leading up to threating the family and spilling his feeling for Jan to them. When Jan returned this time, she was standoffish. By this time, she finally realized what happened to her. Jan estimates that Robert engaged in more than 200 sexual activities with her throughout their relationship. As an adult, Jan was still harassed by “B” so much she got a restraiing order againt him in 2004. Berchtold had an violent altercation at one of Jan’s event which he was found guilty for the passion of an firearm and aggravated assault. Robert feared prison and told his bother that he would kill himself if he had to go. Robert died on Nov 11, 2005. Jan is writing books and educating families on avoiding pedophiles. This story was too outlandish to actually believe, but it is a true story. You must always monitor and protect your children. It makes me angry and sick to know that the parents didn’t protect their child to the fullest.
