Previous Create cover- ISBN: 9781259873010 Requirements: A USB flash drive is required and must be brought to each class. All homework assignments must be submitted via blackboard. (Or brought to class via USB flash drive) All assignments will be graded and reviewed. Attendance is a requirement of this course. Course Description: This course introduces students to computerized financial accounting and managerial practices utilizing QuicbBooks. Comparing other accounting software and techniques and the development of accounting reports for internal and external users.. Students use basic knowledge of accounting to record and report business transactions for all forms of business organizations. Job costing and other managerial reports (budgets and graphs) preparation utilizing QuickBooks software.

Power points slides will be available for www.mhhe.com/kay2015 And blackboard. During class we will use the text book for practice.

You must bring the book to class. Computerized practice set will be assigned on the Blackboard from the textbook as required project prior to the final. Mid-term must be taken. No “make-ups” will be given. A student who does not appear for an exam without discussing with me the reason for their absence in advance will be given a zero for the exam. Your final grade will be calculated as follows: 30% for the mid-term examination, 30% for the final examination, 30% for computerized practice sets, and 10% for graded homework assignments. Introduction to QuickBooks Pro. Course Introduction Setting up a new company Invoicing and Accounts Receivable transactions Paying bills Accounts Payable Transactions Bank reconciliation Adjusting Entries and Financial Statements Customizing Reports The first class is scheduled for January 30 at which time we will review the course materials and discuss assignments. Note that the QuickBooks program is available in the library and at the café in Whitehead Hall and all the computers at the WEB building. If you have problems installing your copy you can use the school facilities to do the work. It is imperative that you purchase the book as soon as possible and install the software on your home computer in order to do the class work. It is also mandatory that the chapter assigned be read before the class. You must back up and save all of your work on your USB. This is your responsibility as well as bringing your book to each class. Without your book you will not be able to follow along. Be sure to correctly name each file that you work on and save for future reference. We will be meeting in the WEB building room 129F for all of our classes. You can’t print in this room. Therefore it is imperative that you bring with you hard copy (print out your) of your homework assignments for grading, review and discussion. Except for the first few days all assignments must be posted on the black board in the designated assignments section. Class: •

Course overview. Read and review chapter 1. Do all of the exercises at the end of the chapters. Most exercises are to be printed in PDF and placed on your USB. For chapter 1 print out the exercises from your home computer on regular copy paper and bring with you to the first class. Excel template on www.myquickbooks.me or www.my-quickbooks.com

• Read and review chapter 2. We will review the setup of QuickBooks.

Do the assignments at the end of the chapter and save them as PDF or Excel file, on your USB and bring them with you to class. Be sure to save the work you do at home and save that as well on your USB and bring that to class with you as well. • Read chapter 3. Review chapter 2. General review of what we have learned up to date. Discuss assignments to be completed and reviewed at end of chapter 3. • Review chapters 3 and discuss chapter 4 and work in class on chapter exercises. • Read chapters 8. Review exercises at end of chapter. • Review exercises from Chapters 8. • Review for Midterm Exam • Mid Term exam. • Review exercises at the end of chapter 9. Project 9.1 (good review) •
