Individually, or in pairs: 1.

Read each case scenario:

Case 1. You’re the first presenter early in the morning It’s the predictable a.m. meeting mess. People are more interested in scoring their favorite donut than they are in taking their seats. They’re sleepy, foggy brained, and easily distracted. Case 2. You’re the last presenter at the end of a long day Your audience has already sat through hours of presentations, some of which bored them, others of which left them mentally exhausted. More than anything, they want to go home so all eyes are on the clock instead of on you. Case 3. Surprise! You have less time than you planned for Some of the other presenters last more than expected, cutting into the time you have to present. The result? You got stressed out and you want to talk fast but no one in your audience would learn a thing. Case 4. You have bad news to deliver If your presentation is bad news, you’ll only evoke more anger and confusion if you seem like you’re sugarcoating the problem or being less than honest. There may be a lot of hard questions asked by upset and confused people. Case 5. The presentation promises to be brutal You are presenting on a controversial topic, the audience is hard with you and they were not participating in all your presentation. At the end you are waiting for their questions and maybe your answers are not going to be the ones expected. 2. Define the type of audience of each case. 3. Write what to do in order to make a successful presentation. 4. Provide detailed information of the presentation answering the questions: who, what and why. 5. Reflect on the benefits of having the habits of highly effective speakers. Which one do you need to improve? 6. Be ready to present your activity to class, your teacher will choose a presenter for each case. Case 1. You’re the first presenter early in the morning

It’s the predictable a.m. meeting mess. People are more interested in scoring their favorite donut than they are in taking their seats. They’re sleepy, foggy brained, and easily distracted. 

Define the type of audience of each case.

It’s indifferent because after waking up the human body is not in its 5 senses are tired and they don't pay the same attention and sleep in the morning. 

Write what to do in order to make a successful presentation. To capture the audience's attention, start with a joke or an interesting anecdote, whether or not it is related to the topic, to arouse the audience's interest, and then start with the most striking ideas of the presentation and elaborate on them.

Provide detailed information of the presentation answering the questions: who, what and why. WHO? the last two persons because in this case two last two persons were detected to take action from my presentation would be the person in charge or the person least interested because this person can make the rest of the audience interested in the presentation I am presenting in the case of the person in charge and the person least interested in seeing that I could make the person least interested in the topic if interested will cause a chain reaction that the other people will be interested in the presentation. WHAT? What the responsible and the less interested person is expected to do at the end of the presentation is to agree or agree with the idea or message you are trying to convey to the audience and the opinion of the rest of the audience is also important as everyone should have their opinions but when you see the result of the two people you see the verbal and non-verbal quality of yourself.

WHY? Because by attracting the attention of the last two persons , you will be able to convince the rest of the audience, since they will be able to notice the charisma and that the power of speech can overcome anything and that with a good communication any person can influence people on a subject in question.

Reflect on the benefits of having the habits of highly effective speakers. Which one do you need to improve? Among the habits of a very effective speaker that I should practice is to use more facial expressions and the volume of my voice. I tend to be a very serious person who does not like to speak in public and this is seen by my colleagues as a person with very little interest in the subject being talked about or the topic I am talking about.

Case 2. You’re the last presenter at the end of a long day Your audience has already sat through hours of presentations, some of which bored them, others of which left them mentally exhausted. More than anything, they want to go home so all eyes are on the clock instead of on you. 

Define the type of audience of each case. It’s indifferent, because after a long day listening to all the presentations they are already tired, they don't pay the same attention as at the beginning, they get bored and want to go home to rest.

Write what to do in order to make a successful presentation. To attract the attention of the audience, you should do an activity in which people move even if they are annoyed, it can be the same as in the case 1 talk about an experience, a joke that is not related to the topic to make them feel a little more comfortable, a video that interests the general public or a song and with this they forget for a moment that they are bored, as well as making a shorter and more striking presentation in which you summarize the topic in general.

Provide detailed information of the presentation answering the questions: who, what and why.

WHO? it is the same as in the previous case the last two persons to act on my presentation would be the person in charge or the least interested person because this person can make the rest of the audience interested in the

presentation that I am presenting in the case of the person in charge and the least interested person seeing that he could make the person less interested in the subject if he is interested will cause a chain reaction that the other people will be interested in the presentation. 

WHAT? What the responsible and the less interested person is expected to do at the end of the presentation is to agree or agree with the idea or the message you are trying to convey to the audience. and that as it is a situation that most people are not yet 100% to convince these two people you see the result of the two people you see the verbal and nonverbal quality of yourself.

WHY? Because by attracting the attention of the last two people, you will be able to convince the rest of the audience, as they will be able to notice the charisma and that the power of the word can overcome anything and that with a good communication any person can influence people on a given topic.

Reflect on the benefits of having the habits of highly effective speakers. Which one do you need to improve? Among the habits of a very effective speaker is to be more eloquent, more expressive, open to the audience and not to show seriousness or nervousness. I tend to be a very serious, calm person with few words.

Case 3. Surprise! You have less time than you planned for Some of the other presenters last more than expected, cutting into the time you have to present. The result? You got stressed out and you want to talk fast but no one in your audience would learn a thing. 

Define the type of audience of each case. It’s favorable, because even if you have less time than planned, you can develop a strategy as summarized as possible the explanation giving the key points of the presentation trying to solve the doubts you had from the previous presentation, to make it more understandable to the audience.

Write what to do in order to make a successful presentation.

To attract the attention of the audience, you must have a different angle on the topic or a different point of view, to present the topic in less time a very effective way is to show them a new approach to the topic, and explain things or points that the previous presenter overlooked and that they do not take more doubts from the presentation.

 

Provide detailed information of the presentation answering the questions: who, what and why. WHO? In this case, the last person who should take action from my presentation would be the manager, since he is the person who can bring order and make sure that the times of the presentations of the topics are respected, as well as organize everyone to respect the stipulated times and giving a good oral expression and mastering the subject completely that the time was not an impediment for me.

WHAT? In this case, what the leader is expected to do at the end of listening to the presentation is to identify the effort, efficiency and knowledge of the topic in order to explain it in less time than expected.

WHY? Because, you will be able to convince the rest of the members of the meeting, since they will be able to notice your verbal and non-verbal handling, your power of conviction, your understanding of the topic and the good organization of the time you manage.

Reflect on the benefits of having the habits of highly effective speakers. Which one do you need to improve? Among the habits of an effective speaker that should be practiced are to be better organized when presenting the topic, to have a facility with words, to know how to solve a problem, to present the topic completely in a few words and that it is understood or comprehended, and not to memorize the presentation.

Case 4. You have bad news to deliver

If your presentation is bad news, you’ll only evoke more anger and confusion if you seem like you’re sugarcoating the problem or being less than honest. There may be a lot of hard questions asked by upset and confused people. 

Define the type of audience of each case. It’s Unfavorable because my audience becomes a little more difficult to talk to because of the reaction they are going to have when they hear the news and with that the audience feels confusion and they go into disagreements, distrust and conflicts depending on the bad news and they may strongly disagree with me about the news.

Write what to do in order to make a successful presentation. In this case, the first thing to do is to try to speak in a more relaxed manner, address the audience in a more natural way or simply make small talk so that the news is not too strong and speak as slowly as possible so as not to generate confusion and so that the news is well understood.

 

Provide detailed information of the presentation answering the questions: who, what and why. WHO? In this case the last person I'm going to talk to is the boss because I know he's ultimately going to make the final decision about the bad news.

WHAT? Convince people that it is just an obstacle that we are going to come out stronger than we are now, talk in general about the strategies we can take to move forward and with the boss that his option counts more and that he will take the decision to move forward.

WHY? Many companies do this, they see the problems or obstacles as an opportunity to improve and not to give up because of bad news, rather than to see strategies that will not happen again and that the bad news can be learned to be better.

Reflect on the benefits of having the habits of highly effective speakers. Which one do you need to improve?

Try not to let the news affect the team or the audience by letting them understand that we must improve and that everything has a solution and that this bad news will be an impulse for favorable improvement. Case 5. The presentation promises to be brutal You are presenting on a controversial topic, the audience is hard with you and they were not participating in all your presentation. At the end you are waiting for their questions and maybe your answers are not going to be the ones expected. 

Define the type of audience of each case. It is unfavorable, because the atmosphere is very dry and confusing because they do not want to participate and they will try to disagree with me all the time, taking the points that I have made a mistake and from that point in a tactful way, with confusing or very detailed questions and with the purpose of making me nervous when answering.

Write what to do in order to make a successful presentation. Start first with the main focus of the topic and how controversial it is, try to be as clear as possible and show that I really master the topic and knowledge of the topic, then when answering the questions be sure of my answers.

 

Provide detailed information of the presentation answering the questions: who, what and why. WHO? The last person is the least interested in seeing the audience at the time of exposition I see the person with the least interest or the most disinterested in the subject and at the time of asking versus subtracting those questions with other questions to that person.

WHAT? To counter the questions and to counterattack with different questions to the person and demonstrating that I dominate the subject 100% and that what I speak is with seriousness of the same one and thus to demonstrate that the other people that any question that they ask me I can answer it and to counterattack to them to put them to test their knowledge.

WHY? Because I will know that in the end, they will have to understand what I am telling them and that I have mastered the subject.

Reflect on the benefits of having the habits of highly effective speakers. Which one do you need to improve? To be self-confident, to understand the topic fully and to seek out more information options and to give the expression of my confidence in speaking and that my body movements and ease reflect confidence....
