Every aspect has two sides to it, a bright side which leads to the advantages of the aspect and a dull side which leads to the disadvantages of the aspect. Similar is the case with computer network. It also has several advantages and some disadvantages to it. Computer networking has overtime become the most efficient and effective method of sharing information and data where different computer systems are linked together. Apart from being a technology that has changed the face of sharing data with various systems, computer networks is also a huge contributor in the way people exchange ideas and knowledge too. But since the interconnected network of systems are linked to the internet, there is also a strong possibility of malwares and viruses being exchanged in the process of data transfer. There may also be instances of illegal and unethical practices carried out due to the accessibility to the internet in the systems.

also for a person who uses it for personal uses. To start with it allows easy file and data sharing among various systems. Computer networking has allowed much easier accessibility for people to share their data and information over multiple systems which help in not only saving time but also energy. Computer networks have a major flexibility factor attached to it. Computer network technology provides its users to explore different aspects of it without affecting the functionality of the system. Besides that, the user is made accessible to all information they need to get and share. Apart from this, computer networks also enhance communication and availability of information. A computer network, with full accessibility to the internet, allows many ways of communication which would have not been possible before it was developed. Also a networking system gives access to a huge amount of useful information to its users. Computer networks are mainly useful for sharing data and information with multiple systems and hence it is equally important that the data shared is safely stored in the systems. Therefore to store data in multiple systems, a better storage capacity is needed to keep all the data organised and safe. Since their introduction to the world, computer systems were accepted adaptly as they were inexpensive and very cost efficient. Computer networks are known to last for a long duration once they are installed and interconnected. Also there is no need to change the software in many networks. All these factors are the reason that the computer networks are a onetime investment and require a one time installation cost. The computer networks are needed to be installed once that last for a very long time. Several software that are available in the market can be installed in the network and used for various workstations. Despite all the advantages, computer networks are not so perfect and have some disadvantages as well. To start of with, computer networks lack independence. A computer network is a sequence of interconnected systems that are all connected to the main server. If that main server breaks

down, the entire system tends to collapse because too much is dependent on the main server and hence making the whole system useless. Another disadvantage of computer networks can be their expensive set up cost. The networking system may be cost efficient but the initial cost of setting up a computer network is too high. Expensive devices such as a router, switch or a hub may add up to the initial cost. Adding to the expensive setup cost, is the requirement of an efficient handler of the networking system. Optimal and efficient working of a computer network requires a person who can handle the system to the best of his or her capabilities. In case of the total system failure when the main server goes down, a technician who can help bring the main server up and also diminish the loss of data transfer can be of great help. The biggest threat to a computer network is the presence of malware and viruses in the interconnected system. A computer network’s main job is to transfer data and information between several systems. So there might be several instances that the stored file may be corrupted or affected by some virus. So it becomes very important to check on a system once in awhile for any malwares or viruses that might be a threat to the integrity and compatibility to the networking system. Despite the computer network being very effective in its work, it still has some security issues as well. A huge number of people are using the computer network at given instance who are simultaneously sharing and transferring data and information through that channel. There might be some illegal or unethical activities that are needed to be aware of and taken care of.
