letter fighting for exotic animal rights...
To: [email protected] From: [email protected] Subject: Jane Goodall Act
Dear Mayor Dan Carter,
I am emailing you today in order to express my support for the Jane Goodall act. I would like to let you know why I am in support of this Act and why you should be as well.
Firstly, the Act helps to give a voice to animals who are being wronged and treated poorly. It will protect great apes, elephants, and other exotic animals being kept in captivity. Along with protecting these living creatures, the Act will also ban the cruel practice of elephant ivory and hunting trophy importation to Canada. These provisions ensure that these wonderful creatures do not endure any harmful or malicious treatment while in captivity, giving them a content life. If they are being mistreated it helps them out of the situation.
Another reason I am in favour of the Jane Goodall Act is because it will further regulate the ownership of exotic animals. Animals such as Apes (who are not in need of rehabilitation and are being kept as “pets”) are not able thrive in domestic animal households. The Jane Goodall Act would ensure that these amazing creatures are able to flourish in either their own environments or environments such as sanctuaries that replicate their natural habitats.
Animal welfare is extremely important to me and many other Canadians and should be taken seriously by Canadian Government Officials as well. The community of Oshawa is counting on you to bring the Jane Goodall Act into the Senate.
Thank you, Emily Varallo...
