LEE ROU YI PISMP TESL C JUN 2019 TSLB 3052 ARTS IN EDUCATION TASK 4 : PRODUCTION OF PERFORMANCE KIT Due to pandemic COVID-19, the Prime Minister had announced the Movement Restricted Order (RMO) to curb the continuous spreading of coronavirus. In light of the most recent announcement made, all Malaysians are kindly informed that all cinema chains will be temporarily closed and operations will be suspended until further notice.

I am sure that everyone misses the moments where we can have the popcorn, drinks, and big screen right? In order to solve this problem, I had designed a product to fulfil everyone’s needs. This product is called “Let’s chill !” “Let’s chill !” is a product which works as a low budget cinema which we can use as a teaching kit. Materials : - The teaching kit - Action song video

Steps to carry out the activities 1. First and foremost, the teacher will ask the kids some questions, as below : “Kids, do you miss the cinema? Movies? Popcorn? and soft drinks? “ 2. After the teacher has received the answers, the teacher will start to introduce this product to them, as bellowed : “Hey kids, it is glad to inform you that the new cinema is opening soon!”

3. Then, the teacher will distribute the product to the class and guide them on how to use this product. The instruction is given as bellowed : “Kids, do you know we should buy a ticket to enter the cinema?” 4. The teacher will show the way to obtain a ticket by scanning the QR code. The QR code will be provided in the product. This product has integrated the technology resources which is the Quick Response code (QR code). This method is used in the 21-st century learning classroom which the students are able to make good use of the technology advancement to make the learning more effective. 5. There are two QR codes which represent the movie tickets shown. They can choose either one of the QR codes (U or P).

6. The U and P actually represent two activities. Kindly recommend that the P activity should be chosen and carried out first, followed by U activity. This is because the children will guide by the teacher and get some inputs first, then only they will know how to carry out the activity by themselves.

7. Activity 1 : Let’s watch movie together!

This activity is designed for the teachers to introduce and tech the topic in an easier way. For choosing P, this activity should be carried out between the kid and the teacher. The teachers need to supervise the children or even guide them throughout the activity. This activity encourages the interaction between the teacher and pupils in the class. Target group : Year 2 pupils Level of proficiency : According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR) global scale, the students’ proficiency is A1. Theme : World of stories Topic : Nouns Learning outcomes : 1. In the end of the lesson, the pupils are able to identify, recognize and name the letters of the alphabet. 2. The pupils are able to identify the nouns and provide correct spelling on the subject. Skills : listening, speaking AIE elements : Visual art Movement art Musical art The steps on how to carrying the activity as below: (After purchasing the ticket, the first step is they need to read for the movie description to know the story line of the movie.) 1. After scanning the QR code, the overview and the contents of the lesson are shown. The pupils will get to know what topic they are going to learn.

Activity 1 - P.docx

2. In the topic shown, it will provide an alphabet chart with Image provided. (e.g. alphabet “A” - the image is an ant) The spelling for every image will be provided as well. The kids will get some ideas and new inputs for the topic. The kids are able to relate the alphabet to the image and then get to know the correct spelling.

3. There will be an action song video for the alphabet “A to Z”. The teacher will play and demonstrate the action in the video. The kids need to sing, act and follow the song.

(Entering the cinema, they will need to find the seat) After this, the kids will proceed to the next session. There will be a seat plan given. The stickers which contain the image of the object pasted on every seat. The teacher will ask the kids to paste the stickers on the correct place. The teacher will give instruction in a musical way. The teacher will use the melody of “The Finger Family Song” to sing out the questions as below : “Monkey, monkey, where are you ?” For the kids, they need to follow the song and answer the question by continuing singing the part of the song. “Monkey, monkey, where are you ? Here I am, Here I am, M is the seat for you” Musical art is integrated as the children will follow the lyrics of the music as they sing along and will remember each of the alphabets. The kid will get the inputs through singing in the class and this will create a fun learning environment in the teaching-learning process. At the same time, for the kids, they need to use the stickers which contain the alphabet to paste in the correct place. This means the kids need to choose the correct alphabet which match

with the image shown. For example, the kids need to choose an alphabet “M” to paste on the monkey image. Movement art is integrated as the kids need to arrange and paste the stickers on the correct place. The seating arrangements are planned by the kid. The kids need to think of which correct place is for the sticker. 8. After every alphabet is placed on the correct seat, the teacher will choose an image and the kids need to provide the correct pronunciation and spelling of the word. For example, the teacher chooses the image of a monkey. The kids need to pronounce the word out. 9. The kids need to find and combine the stickers which contain alphabets to form the word with correct spelling. For example, the kids need to find stickers that contain the alphabet “M”, “O”, “N”, “K”, “E” and “Y” and match it in a correct sequence to form the word “monkey”. (It is time to watch the movie)

10. The teacher will do the action song video again and the kids will follow it with movements. 11. The teacher will act out how does every alphabet looks like and show to the kids. Visual art is integrated as the kids able to watch the action of the teachers which helps them to relate the action to the alphabet “A” to “Z”. This action is done because the teacher needs to emphasize on the topic that they have learned in this lesson so that the kids will remember better. The kids will reflect back what they learn on this lesson and are able to apply it when necessary.

8. Activtiy 2 : U are alone. The name of the activity is designed for the kids after they had get inputs from the previous activity and had carried out the activity which accompanied by the teacher. So this is the time where they need to be independent and carry out the activity by themselves. For choosing U, this activity can be done alone, which means the teachers do not need to supervise the children or even guide them throughout the activity. This activity encourages self-learning by the children. Target group : Year 2 pupils Level of proficiency : According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR) global scale, the students’ proficiency is A1. Theme : World of stories Topic : Nouns Learning outcomes : 1. In the end of the activity, the pupils are able to identify the nouns. 2. The pupils are able to place the nouns under the correct category. In the topic shown, it will provide a list of vocabularies which place under their respective groups (e.g. the animal group, the classroom objects group, the food group). There is a picture shown beside every vocabulary. The kid will get some ideas and new inputs for the topic. The kid gets to know how the actual thing looks and able to relate to the vocabulary.

Actvity 2 - U.docx
