APES unit 3: Air Pollution PSA

In groups of 3, you will be creating a PSA (Public Service Announcement) about Air Pollution. Your PSA should be focused on a various types of air pollution, where these pollutants come from, cleanup methods to deal with these pollutants, and laws governing air quality. As you make your PSA, please consider the following: • Opening introduction or hook - PSA’s are catchy, moving, funny, or elicit emotion and empathy • All students must be a part of the skit (they need to be in the actual video via voice or appearance) • Ending credits • Your PSA can take on many forms such as a music video, commercial, or a newscast • You need to include the following information in your PSA (this information should not just be definitions): ● Explain what the pollutant is and its chemical formula ● Where does your pollutant come from? How does it form? o Explain both natural and anthropogenic sources o Explain if it is a primary or secondary pollutant ● Ways that scientists measure the levels of your specific pollutants (temperature, pH, conductivity, Turbidity, a Bioassay, etc) ● Specific impacts on… o Environment o Human Health o Economy ● Ways that the public can reduce assigned pollutant(s) ● Laws that govern air pollution for assigned pollutant ● Create a handout for the class as a study guide/cheat sheet for your pollutant ● Suggested video editing tools: WeVideo (Google Chrome app), YouTube Editor, iMovie Modeled after Scholastic PSA Rubric
