Description

SBLE3163 PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS GROUP J INFORMATIVE SPEECH OUTLINE SOUND POLLUTION

NAME: MUHAMMAD HANAFI BIN ABU BAKAR (272832)

LECTURER: MADAM SHAHRUL NIZA BINTI SAID

Topic : Sound Pollution General Purpose : To persuade Specific Purpose : To persuade my audience about the effect of sound pollution to other people Central Idea : Malaysian nowadays did not realise that they always make a sound pollution by their daily routine INTRODUCTION Sound pollution also known as Noise Pollution is one of the most rampant pollutions we find in the world. Especially in Malaysia, the nuisance of sound pollution is steadily on the rise, especially in urban cities and areas. Some statistics say that noise pollution in Kuala Lumpur is now having medical effects on the inhabitants of the city. But what exactly constitutes sound pollution? Let us hear more in this sound pollution speech. 1) Noise pollution is generally defined as regular exposure to elevated sound levels that may lead to adverse effects in humans or other living organisms. 2) According to the World Health Organization, sound levels less than 70decibles (dB) are not damaging to living organisms, regardless of how long or consistent the exposure is. 3)

Exposure for more than 8 hours to constant noise beyond 85decibles (dB) may be hazardous. If you work for 8 hours daily in close proximity to a busy road or highway, you are very likely exposed to traffic noise pollution around 85decibles dB.

BODY 1 First of all I will talk about the causes of the noise pollution 1. At the same time as the world is turning to technology for comfort, it is damaging us. No matter how big or little, enterprises contribute to noise pollution. Compressors, exhaust fans, generators, and other equipment they employ generate a lot of noise. 2. Similarly, an increase in the usage of automobiles is a key contributor to pollution. It includes not only autos, but also other modes of transportation such as aeroplanes,

buses, bicycles, trucks, and more. People honk incessantly in traffic and listen to loud music while driving, causing excessive noise. 3. Furthermore, social activities such as weddings, parties, and religious functions held in places such as clubs, pubs, temples, halls, and other venues cause a great deal of annoyance in residential areas. Additionally, noise is produced by construction operations such as mining, the construction of flyovers, bridges, and other structures. 4. I would like to persuade everyone to stop doing sound pollution because it will cause a bad effect especially for kids to sleep well.

BODY 2 All the source of sound pollution that I already mention will give a bad impact to our daily live. 1) Refer to the World Health Organization estimates that one out of three people in Asean is harmed by traffic noise. More than the purely medical effects of noise pollution on the individual, there is a significant social and economic impact. 2) Even though noise pollution causes sleep disruption, it has an impact on an individual's work performance during the day, it causes hypertension and cardiovascular illness, which costs the health system more time and money, and it has a negative impact on children's school performance. 3) Noise pollution has an impact on animals as well as humans. It also has an impact on marine life, particularly whales. Sound is used by some marine species to find food and communicate with one another. However, they are unable to do so due to rising sound levels in the seas and oceans, and hence are harmed. However, there has been widespread infringement of this law, and the agencies responsible have not made much efforts to fully apply it. 4) It will have a detrimental effects on the innocent lives, that’s why I would like to persuade all the audience to reduce the sound pollution. BODY 3 The last point I want to share with all of you is about how we can reduce noise pollution.

1) 1) Noise pollution is yet another issue that urban life has brought to humanity, and, like other types of pollution, we may take steps to mitigate the negative effects that such pollutants have on our lives and health. Some governments have set regulations and programmes to reduce noise pollution after recognising that it is becoming an issue for our health and mental well-being. The approaches used range from restrictions governing the construction of automobile motors to the maximum volume of sound permitted in domestic appliances. 2) Noise pollution restrictions do not have to be tied to technology or other man-made things; they can also govern how noisy humans are during the day. As a result, some cities have sound pollution rules in place during particular times of the day when people need to relax. It also entails enacting new legislation that penalises those who violate the peace by causing noise pollution. There is no single answer to the problem of noise pollution, and when we consider the negative impact it has on our health, the need to reduce noise pollution in our cities becomes critical. 3) Based on the noise pollution reduction methods that have been provided, I persuade all audience work together to practice it for the benefit of all the surrounding residents which to some extent has a positive impact.

Conclusion There is no denying that some level of noise is required for human survival. However, it is also true that, as a result of our own mismanagement, noise pollution has become a rising environmental hazard that requires rapid attention. People have been shown to have ear problems, and the environment has been harmed as well. It is past time to put the noise pollution prevention measures in place that are available to us. Otherwise, future generations may suffer from permanent hearing-related disorders, and the environment would be irreversibly harmed.
