An Indian Father’s Plea SOC 100

Which of the four approaches to culture best relate to the situation described in the letter? culture as an art all pervasive way of the father gives a bunch of examples of how he was raised in this trap and how he um kind of like was taught different ways and he had kind of different safety nets and things ways he learned this is kind of like the way that his son learns was all pervasive in his life like it's kind of like encapsulates a lot of things like with his mother with the earth it all goes back to kind of his roots draw on that culture = they know what to do in every situation of life life culture as embodiment the production of cultural perspective culture as a toolkit but then the father is sending the kid to school to american mainstream american school as well so this kid is going to be exposed

to a different culture as well and maybe be able to draw on that culture in in certain situations even when going to american school he can draw on his indian culture Do you think the standard American or Canadian education system is ethnocentric? How? it is ethnocentric there is a value of school being ethnocentric → everyone getting the sam ebasic knowledge and expore to the same basic stuff favour of school being ethnocentric → immersion schools french immersion = less ethnocentric - culture is transmitted and embedded in language perserve background be part of a community re-brand socialize studies world geography more current events stuff other than prescribed other than canda inclusive to who u have in the room Is that a bad thing?

Should the education system try to not be ethnocentric?...
