OBSERVATION CHECKLIST QUESTIONS:

Horse: Q3 What type or class of drug is this product? Provide an example of when this drug is indicated? This product is an analgesic. Schedule four. It’s an Anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic oral paste for the relief of painful musculoskeletal conditions and soft tissue injuries in horses. Q4. Are you able to dispense this drug to the horse? Yes, only when prescribed by a veterinarian. Q5 What are some possible side effects, allergic or toxic reactions that may occur with this product? What advice would you give an owner if any of these signs were seen in this horse? Some side effects include diarrhea, anorexia, depression, weight loss, oral and gastrointestinal lesions including ulcers, and renal papillary necrosis. This product shouldn’t be used in animals with cardiac, renal or hepatic disorders, blood dyscrasias or pre-existing gastrointestinal ulceration. Care should be taken, and correct dosage should be administered. If any these reactions occur, discontinue treatment immediately and contact or visit a veterinarian. Dog: Q6 How do you count the correct number of tablets? Use a counting tray. Q7 What should you do (for health and hygiene purposes) before and after counting and packaging or administering tablets? Wash hands and wear gloves (if necessary). Q9 What drug schedule is this drug? Who in the clinic can prescribe this medication to the client? Schedule four. It is a prescribed drug and only a veterinarian can prescribe this medication to the client. Q10 What strategies would you suggest to the client if they said they were unable to give tablets to their dog?  Try hiding tablets in peanut butter.  Try hiding tablets in food.  Try using a pill popper and place it far back in the throat....
