Q#3

Squealer, the skilled orator is the spokesperson of Napoleon, the corrupt opportunist who never made a single contribution to the revolution not even in the formulation of the ideology of new state. But he was smart enough to get a leadership role after the animals have rebelled. Squealer is the sycophant of Napoleon and is his propaganda minister. He is very clever and convincing who as the animals say “could turn black into white”. He assists Napoleon by convincing the animals that Napoleon has always acted in their best interest and has made huge sacrifices for the revolution and creation of a new and different state. Squealer justifies Napoleon’s stealing of milk and apples saying these contain particular substances that are good for the wellbeing of pigs and the pigs are the brain workers, while answering to the questioning animals. He makes a good image of Napoleon in the mind of the animals which helps Napoleon manipulate the animals. Squealer abuses language as a tool to get Napoleon power, moreover the novel demonstrates that power corrupts always. The novel has highlighted the corruption of the socialist ideals through the portrayal of animal farm. To sum up, Squealer twists and distorts the rhetoric of socialist revolution in order to justify the actions of Napoleon and to keep the other animals in the dark. These pigs twist and change the meaning of the socialist ideals of the major after his death, so, the other animals are unable to oppose them.

Q#4

The pigs corrupted the socialist ideals and manipulated the animals by twisting and distorting the rhetoric of socialist ideals for their personal interest. They did not contribute anything, neither in the revolution nor in the ideology of revolution. Moreover, there has been failure of intellect. The pigs are thought to be the intelligent animals but their intelligence is of no use. The novel suggests that intelligence is useless without a moral sense to engage in politics. These proved to be the reasons why the farm fails. The farm could become an ideal state if the ideals of the old major were followed. But after the old major dies and his socialist ideals are not followed but twisted, distorted and molded in ways that benefit the pigs and the animals seems unable to oppose these ideals. The pigs use language as a tool to abuse power. Another reason for the failure of the farm is inability and unwillingness of other animals in the farm. The oppressed animals are not in the better position to be educated or informed. Napoleon is always right in whatever he is doing and saying. It also demonstrates the idea that power always corrupts. It could be made an ideal state if there was supremacy of law and if there would have been impersonal rule of law but the wisdom of the whole animal community. The farm should have been made an ethical institution to promote moral qualities in animals and promoting a good and prosperous life. There should have been practical implementation of equality and justice....
