Earl Medina English 1301 Mrs.Campese You cannot talk to a professor like a friend. Never ever use LOL,btw,lmao, or any other abbreviations,or using improper grammar. Always use their last name and professor/teacher, I honestly cannot believe how students of Mark Tomforde call him by his first name. I have not heard a classmate call a teacher by their first name. Professors are supposed to be viewed as mentors or people that can inspire you. I do think that you should talk to them and sometimes about things outside of school because they are normal people. Communicating professionally is showing respect and showing the relation with your professor. Talking professionally helps you split your personal life and professional life, teachers are not therapists. Professors are there to educate you, not tell you how you should go about how to handle a breakup or how to solve your bad relationship with your parents. I agree that it is a business transaction, you do your best to learn and respect your professors.I always talk to my professor with utmost respect, all my life I have. I’ve been taught that teachers or professors are people who demand so much respect and authority. Calling a teacher by their first name is throwing away their respect and some teachers might find it very uncomfortable. I have seen some people disrespect their teachers in other ways which is definitely surprising, disrupting class by talking out loud.I find disrespect to teacher a uncommon thing now but there a still examples Disrespecting a teacher can give you a bad reputation too, it could be spread around and might negatively affect your life outside of school. In conclusion I think that teachers or professors should alway be treated with respect and talk to them with respect even if it’s an email or a reminder text....
