Description

The attached video touched on the reality of living in Slab City: The Last Free Place on Earth. A mystical looking character unveils her moving story of finding the freedom to be herself and a gleaming future. First and foremost, the choice theory was well-incorporated in the film. In the beginning, an intruder disrupted the filming process leading to an unexpected argument. Despite the dispute, they found a middle ground to settle. She was aware of people’s need to feel welcomed. As a result, she still respected the other person since that individual is part of the community. In the past, she faced unfortunate obstacles in her life which led to the deterioration of her mental health. She expressed feeling like a misfit and excluded from the outside world. However, she now discovered the place she fits in. The inhabitants united together in “a cozy womb of broken glass” called the Slab City. Her purpose at Range was to ensure inclusivity and respect amongst the community. She carried out her duty by maintaining safety, letting people sing on stage, and allowing them to enjoy the music. In relation to Freudian Iceberg, she revealed her painful past that led her to the place. As a result of tragic events and the feeling of emptiness, she needed to cope with her stress. Sadly, she turned into harmful coping mechanisms like getting addicted to weed. On the other hand, she used healthy outlets as well, such as crying when she got lost in the desert. After moving, she started looking forward to things like music and the betterment of herself. The lady was like an iceberg. Our perception was constructed by what she is comfortable sharing. Based on the film, her eccentric fashion style caught people’s attention. Her leadership style at the Range exhibited her initiative and compassion. She revolved her life around serving the community. The manner of her speaking presents her as an assertive yet understanding individual. The other half of the iceberg uncovered the depth of her story. As the interviewer dug deeper, we found out the reasons she settled in the place and the obstacles she faced. Although she had the right to keep her privacy, she courageously opened up about her story in front of the camera for the millions of people to recognize her perspective. Perhaps, her story was inspiring for the people who are in the same place she was. As she unfolded her life to us, she regarded other people’s privacy and boundaries. She remembered to avoid exposing other people’s backgrounds and solely kept it about her. Going back to her arrival, she came back and forth in the city which shows indecisiveness. If she took the time to prepare by evaluating the situation and planning out her evacuation, she could have moved with ease. When she narrated an anecdote of a testament during the summer, she revealed that it tends to build commotion due to the lack of water. The situation triggered a stress response, so people either escape or fight the fire. Instead of utilizing their power to help others, some people chose to covet the resource of water from their neighbours. She took advantage of her surroundings for the benefit of other people. For instance, she promoted the proper conduct and behaviour at the stage to ensure the safety of the performers. She also hoped to inspire the musicians to express their true identities through the art of singing. By doing so, she encouraged them to pursue their passion. Therefore, the video encompasses a heartwarming story of a vagabond who found a home in Slab City....
