Educational Philosophy Assignment 1 - Educational Philosophy ...

Description

Question 1) what it means to be an educated person… To be a truly educated person means to develop the knowledge and skill to look beyond the standard meaning of being educated and to find the hidden complexity of intelligence and what that means to you personally. Education is meant to teach people about themselves and everything around them, how they fit into the world, and to provide the necessary skills to navigate both. I learned about hard and soft skills and I feel they both pertain to this question. I retained my ideas on what it means to be educated from many different sources and scholars that I have interacted with and have had converstai0ns with throughout the years and I’ve learned and grown with them over time. An educated person is rational and reasonable. They use their ability to reason analytically and critically and carry the ability to think clearly and independently with using good judgment. They know how to acquire knowledge and skills and make productive use of it. Question 2) What specific content or discipline areas do you feel are necessary for every educated person? I believe every educated person should be able to think clearly and independently. That they carry good judgment and be able to think for themselves and communicate thought articulately. An educated person must be grounded in knowledge of the world and its mechanisms. They must know how to learn and know how to acquire desired skills by identifying and utilizing their available resources. An educated person should take the initiative to work alone, they should communicate their thoughts and ideas in writing… clearly and concisely, be able to speak clearly and reason analytically and critically. Question 3) Think about one person in your life who exemplifies some aspects of being educated… I have some friends who exemplify an educated person to me. They participate in the intellectual and cultural conversation of the educated person who conversate within their community, nation, and world. Their ideals and performance inspire and touch the souls of others. They clearly understand and feel compelled to actively participate in a multicultural society. They maintain the ability to think inductively and deductively, and they create conversation wherever they go. They know how to make productive use of their knowledge; they know where to get the knowledge that they need, and they have the ability to organize that knowledge into a plan of action that is directed to a definite end or a beginning of conversation. They are wise, creative, empathetic, and engaged. They make me think and are never judgmental, harsh, or discouraging in their conversations or topics of thought....
