Summary

describe how you use time management skills in work and assignment ...

Description

The work contained and presented here is my work and my work alone.

In the article: “Time-Management Skills for Business, School, and Beyond!”, I found some techniques I used for years to study efficiently and some new techniques. As for the time management skills in workplace: bite-sized tasks, prioritize, clear your workspace, plan, plan again, learn to say no, do not disturb, delegate, fill out your calendar and reflect. As for the time management skills in school: organize, eliminate distractions, use to-do lists, make a plan, prioritize, schedule, create a time budget, find your time zone, avoid time-wasters and use downtime to your advantage. When finishing the assignment of OPIM 5500, I usually use two of the techniques that mentioned in the article: eliminate distractions and find your time zone. Since I live with my friends every day, I am easily to be distracted in home. Therefore, when I try to focus on my assignment, I would leave the public area such as living room, kitchen, and balcony. In addition, I would turn off my cellphone until I finished it. This is helpful. Another technique that I use is finding my time zone. According to the article, it suggested that different people have different best time of a day. Some people are early risers. Other people are night owls. People have limited energy every day. Using the energy wisely is the key to finish the assignment efficiently. As for me, I can’t work the whole night. I have ever tried to procrastinate the work until the day before the deadline. I finished the work poorly. Nighttime is my worst time zone. Hence, I usually do the hardest assignment in the morning. By using these two techniques, I can finish the assignment on time. While in workplace, the techniques I use are different from doing assignment. I can’t control the distractions by myself. I can’t tell my colleagues to leave me alone. I can’t turn off my phone. Or else my supervisor may not find me all the time. Therefore, I should use the time management technique: learn to say no and prioritize the work. When my colleagues send email to let me help them, I would reject them if I can’t finish my work on time. I would make prioritize based on deadline and importance. In school, the tasks that I should finish would not change based on the syllabus. But in workplace, the tasks can increase at any time. I can only finish the tasks as soon as possible. In school, I can manage the tasks based on the deadline. Reference: https://www.zenbusiness.com/info/time-management-skills/...
