Mistake

Action: Mick not being honest with his family about the debt he owed is a mistake. At the beginning he was determined to keep spending no matter what. He gambles and lies to his family not really caring if the business closes. His wife and daughter were not aware of how deeply in debt the restaurant was. This is a mistake because Mick believed his behavior was without consequences. Although he was fully aware of keeping the information a secret, he acknowledged later that it was not the right thing to do and he should have changed his ways sooner. His financial spending/outlook caused the restaurant quality, atmosphere, and morale to suffer (not to mention its role in causing issues within his family).

Action: Mo had put up with Mick, letting him do whatever he wanted with the restaurant. She let Mick abuse her and her daughter, not sticking up for herself. She had gotten so used to that treatment she felt that as much as she argued with Mick, the only solution left was to walk out on him. All she felt she could do was listen to him and follow in his lead (i.e. with preparing microwave meals). Mo not sticking up for herself was a mistake in that it caused damage to her self esteem and financial security, which she later realized with the help of Gordon and changed. She knew she should have done more to stand up to him but felt there was no use because he would not listen. Mo admitted to her role in enabling her husband’s poor behavior, and poor dinner service was the result.

Misconduct Action: The menu of Mick’s restaurant boasts that "everything is freshly made and locally sourced/grown..." Mick, who is cooking or rather heating up the food himself, knows everything is microwaved, not local, not freshly made, etc. and still continues to promote fresh food as a huge pull to get customers in. He knowingly lies to customers about the origin of the food that’s being served (a violation of restaurant health and safety). Mick knows it is wrong and against policy but he does it anyway to not lose money from throwing away unsold fresh lamb shank. This is a risk to the customers who are trusting Mick and believe what he is saying. Because they ultimately discover his lies and do not like the food the restaurant is hurt and loses money in the process. The prices are not consistent with the

Action: Mo lets all the things that are wrong with the restaurant persist because she is so tired and upset with how things have gone. She knows they desperately need Gordon’s help but is unable to enact that on her own due to Mick’s stubbornness. She knows they work hard but no positive results come from it. Mo did not try to fix the misconduct on the part of her husband and in effect is responsible for it as well. Her name and money were on the line just as much as his. Mo had just as much authority to stop Mick and demand that the food be served fresh (as that was how it was advertised). Mo participates in improper behavior as a restaurant owner and the customers, along with her own

quality of the food. Because of this, their reputation is damaged and people know not to return.

business, suffer as a result of her poor work ethic and corner cutting.

Action: Mick would not admit when he had done something wrong and would just get overwhelmed and blame others, causing more mistakes to occur. He could not communicate and was too controlling whether in the kitchen or when he attempted to work the front of house portion of the restaurant. This is a disaster because Mick was unable to see his role in causing the restaurant to struggle. He would blame others and give up or walk out when things got tough. This would make it hard for the others to try and improve the situation creating more chaos and negative results.

Action: Mo along with Mick sold their dream home to keep the restaurant afloat and were living in a tiny flat. This was a disaster because it only further enabled Mick and allowed him to walk all over her. The two had no communication because Mick was stubborn and this resulted in more issues for the family as a whole. Their daughter was suffering along with the restaurant and in the beginning Mo was not able to reassure her or change the situation much. It was only with Gordon’s support that Mo was able to stand more firmly against Mick.

Michelle Martin Mick snaps at Michelle and is left to deal with customer complaints when they are left waiting and more than half are left told them to leave. She is allowing her father to bring her down with him and his poor behavior. Lets mick walk all over her and feels blame on herself

Poor atmosphere - psychedelic wallpaper Action: Michelle knowingly serves food that is not fresh to customers. She also does not warn them about the true nature of th is still in the wrong because she allows customers to get served non-fresh food. One positive thing is that she does actually ad have if it was an actual customer. However, almost immediately after that is shown a waitress admits to Gordon Ramsay that

“No food sent down” she listens to Mick even though she knows he does not know what he is doing. She does not want to from her lack of experience in running a restaurant. As a result, she has to reject customers which upsets them further and pu

Mistake

Action (1A): Mo had put up with Mick, letting him do whatever he wanted with the restaurant.

Action (1B): Mick cooking the trout before the steak. It’s a mistake because I don’t think he did it intentionally, or he just wasn’t thinking about it enough. However, it slows down the process of getting customers their food and could cause some foods to be served cold. It disrupted the entire flow of the restaurant.

Action (1C): Mick not being honest with his family about the debt he owed is a mistake. At the beginning he was determined to keep spending no matter what. He gambles and lies to his family not really caring if the business closes. His wife and daughter were not aware of how deeply in debt the restaurant was. Action (2B): Mick walking out to smoke a cigarette. He is supposed to be the head chef of the restaurant, so walking out mid dinner rush is obviously unacceptable behavior. You can’t leave your coworkers to take over your job and fend for themselves when

Action (3B): The way Mick prepares the lamb chop. It’s a disaster because it is advertised falsely and appears to be really unhealthy. The lamb chops are vacuum sealed, don’t need to be refrigerated, and are loaded with so many unhealthy chemicals and preservatives. It has a shelf life of a year instead of 3-5 days like a fresh lamb chop. All of this is bad enough, but their restaurant advertises that all of their food is freshly cooked.

Action (3C): Mick would not admit when he had done something wrong and would just get overwhelmed and blame others, causing more mistakes to occur.
