Factorial design...

Description

Question 1. Think of a context, ideally related to a work environment you are familiar with, where you would like to run an experiment. Keep it simple, just a 2 X 2 full factorial design. Specify your two Independent Variables and describe how you would manipulate this. Be specific – do not simply say, “Low and High”, describe what these terms mean in an applied context). Also specify your key dependent variable(s) – again, please provide an actual measure/metric you would use to assess the impact of the IV. What main-effect do you think you will see for each of your IVs? Do you anticipate an interaction effect? Why or why not? Example 20 students in a class participate in a research to examine the individual or the combined effects of routes (either Freeway drive or the 16th street drive) and the time (either start at 7:30 am or 9:00 am). FACTOR B Freeway drive

The 16th street drive

FACTOR A 7:30 am Average time taking Freeway drive at 7:30 am Average time taking the 16th street drive at 7:30am

9:00 am Average time taking Freeway at 9:00am Average time taking the 16th street drive at 9:00am

Independents variables: -

Freeway drive: freeway drive has less traffic than the 16th street. However, at time of the year, the traffic is getting bad in the morning because of a large number of RV of winter visitors coming to Yuma. The 16th street drive: bad traffic at 7:30am because this street is the main street running from the south to the north of the whole city. There are many markets, schools, and shopping centers along the street. Start time at 7:30 am: busy time. People drop off their kids at schools and go to work. Start time at 9:00 am: less traffic.

In this context, one half of the students will take the freeway drive to go to school at 7:30, the other half will take the 16th street at 7:30am. Again, one half of the students take the freeway to go to school at 9:00am and the rest take the 16th street drive at 9:00am. Dependent variables: times to go to school varies depend on the routes and starting times. The expecting results: -

It takes longer for a person who goes on 16th street starting at 7:30am than the one start at 9:00am. It takes longer for a person who goes on the freeway drive starting at 9:00am than the one start at 7:30am. It takes longer for a person who goes on the 16th street than the one who goes on the freeway.

The starting time has effect on the route since if a person wants to take the fastest route, they should start at 7:30am in the freeway. The longest way is the 16th street at 7:30am.

I did take the route 16th street at 7:30am because my car is not good enough to run in the freeway, and my class starts at 8:00am. I got into my class just on time. The other day started at 9:00am to go to my 9:30am class in the same route, I got into class at 9:25am. Question 2. Based on the document, "Cluster Analysis for Assignment" please indicate: (1) whether you would go with a 2 or 3 cluster solution, (2) your rationale, and (3) the descriptions you would provide for each of the clusters/segments. Note, this information is taken from the exercise survey, with k-means analysis using current exercise objectives of respondents with respect to "Cardiovascular" and "Strength and Power". I would like to choose the 3 cluster solution. There are 26 people (24%) in cluster 1, 16 people (15%) in cluster 2, and (61%) in cluster 3. This is a reasonable percent per group. The 2 cluster solution has the percentage per group difference too far. If I had to label, I would call: -

Cluster 1: “improving health” because they want to raise heart rate, improving the vascular in their bodies

-

Cluster 2 “strong body” for those who go to the gym to be stronger, have more strength and powerful....
