Study Abroad (ISAP) & Exchange (IEX) Study Abroad (Inbound) (one or two semesters) For students enrolled at a university that is not a partner of Swinburne’s Study Abroad program, you will be charged per unit as a Study Abroad international student. Study Abroad students can study at Swinburne for one or two semesters. Exchange (Inbound) (one or two semesters) Approved exchange students currently enrolled at one of our partner universities receive a tuition fee waiver for their international exchange program under the agreed reciprocal exchange arrangement. To come to Swinburne on exchange you need to be nominated by one of Swinburne’s partner universities.

The Study Abroad Program is designed for students currently studying at an overseas nonpartner institution. You should have a good academic history and be proficient in English. You can choose to study either 3 or 4 subjects per semester from any Swinburne degree, as long as you meet the prerequisites.

Eligibility To be eligible for the exchange program you must have successfully completed a year of study at a higher education institution and met all our entry requirements*. Additional requirements that you will need to fulfil to be nominated for exchange.

How to apply You will need to contact your institution and request them to nominate you as a candidate for exchange to Swinburne University. Documents required

Same as Study Abroad students.

1. Copy of passport photo page 2. Application form with unit preference 3. Certified academic transcripts with grading system 4. English translations, where applicable 5. Certified and valid English proficiency test results (where applicable) 6. Portfolio, for students who are applying for design or film and TV units. 3 or 4 units per semester International students are required to take a full-time study load. Most Swinburne units are valued at 12.5 credit points and full-time study requires that you enrol in between 37.5 and 50 credit points per semester. This means you will take either three or four units per semester. Tuition Fees The 2017 Study Abroad fees are listed below:  $A8,900 per semester to study 4 subjects  $A6,800 per semester to study 3 subjects Certificate of Specialisation You will need to complete two units from any discipline area from our areas of study website. If you intend to specialise in two disciplines and gain a Dual Study Abroad Certificate of Specialisation, you must complete two units from each of the two disciplines. You must also indicate where requested on the application form the discipline area you wish to specialise in.

Developing your Study Abroad or Exchange Study Plan You will need to select and submit the subjects you choose as part of your application to Swinburne. Search for subjects The best place to search for your subjects is on our study options website. Click on a discipline area to view the subjects available in that field. You can also search subjects by keywords in our Unit Search site. Type in keywords like ‘engineering materials’ or ‘marketing’ for the subjects that you are interested in, and a list of units within the subject area will appear. You can then select any individual unit to get a detailed unit description. To check whether a subject is available in your chosen semester, check our timetable website. You can also read our “Developing your Swinburne study plan” guide.
