I believe that we should stay in Afghanistan. This war has been dragged out for far too long and although we have not been outright defeated I think we should still try to save as many people as we can before the war gets too large scale. Since reading “I am Malala” I have been able to put myself in the shoes of an Afghan citizen and it is not fair what they have to go through and I believe it is still worth it to stay and save as many civilians as we can as it is our duty as a stronger country to help those caught in less ideal circumstances. Seeing the parallels between Malala and any other person in the US is really eye opening. We are all human beings deserving of unalienable rights according to our own constitution but do we really believe in that if we only protect the rights of people in our border. Some people be;ieve that if we stay we will get the United States stuck in a permenant war. Victor J. Blue had said “there is no reason to think it would have succeeded in creating a stable Afghan government, after failing to do so for 20 years.” But if we give ourselves a longer deadline than what President Trump and Biden gave us, with a better thought out plan I do believe that we be successful in overthrowing the Talibs. If we were to pull out after all these yars what was all the deaths for? All these veterans who come back injured, scarred or broken we would not want these 20 years of hard work to be for nothing.
