Description

Who is Billy the Kid? Billy the Kid is really famous. He was the worst outlaw and gunfighter of the Old West Billy the Kid is just a nickname, his presumed marital name is William Henry McCarty. He was born in 1859, in New York City and lived there until 14. In fact, in 1873, he moved to New Mexico, his mother died when he was 15. So he used to be placed in a boarding house. In 1877, he killed for the first time during an altercation with a blacksmith. After that, he joined a gang called «the boys». John Tunstall proposed Billy to work for him. So, McCarty began to refer to himself by the name "William H. Bonney" In 1879, Tunstall was killed by Sheriff William Brady. Billy was captured bu Sheriff Pat Garret and was sentenced to death, but he was so smart he escaped. He escaped from jail on April 28, killing two sheriff's deputies in the process and evading capture for more than two months. Garrett shot and killed McCarty, by then age 21, in Fort Sumner on July 14, 1881. During the following decades, legends grew that McCarty had survived, and a number of men claimed to be him....
