Description

Diabetes mellitus may be a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism characterized by the impaired ability of the body to provide or answer insulin and thereby increasing the sugar within the form of glucose within the blood.

Diabetes is taken into account as a significant reason behind morbidity and mortality, these outcomes don't seem to be thanks to the immediate effects of the disorder but rather cause by the complication caused by the disease like coronary cardiovascular disease and peripheral arterial disease) and little blood vessels (microvascular disease, including retinal and renal vascular disease), further as diseases of the nerves. There are two major varieties of the disease. Type 1 diabetes, formerly noted as insulindependent diabetes (IDDM) or ketosis-prone diabetes, usually arises in childhood. Type 2 diabetes, formerly called ketosis-resistant diabetes mellitus Mellitus (NIDDM) or adult, usually occurs after age 40 and becomes more common with increasing age typically thanks to lifestyle. In type 1 diabetes there's the absence or reduce the number of insulin within the body while type 2 diabetes there's adequate insulin but there's insulin resistance and by that the body can't use glucose. Hallmarks for diabetes include polyphagia, polydipsia, and polyuria.

there's no cure for diabetes but rather the symptoms are the ones treated. The treatment goal is to manage the number of sugar within the body thereby preventing its complications.

Type 1 diabetes will be managed by administering insulin combine with dietary changes and exercise.

Type 2 diabetes could also be managed by insulin or non-insulin medication combined also with exercise, weight reduction, and dietary changes. reference Clark, M. A. (2018, March 28). Biology.
