Description

Honors: 1. Every app comes with potential risks when downloaded on a mobile phone or computer. For example, adware, being a type of malware that can serve you advertisements per your own personal monitored behavior online. Through personal experience, I have seen adware connected to Forever21, Shein, Amazon, and Walmart. Shein and Forever21 have marketing ads on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc. that prompt consumers to invest in these brands/mobile apps. On Amazon, you can notice on the recommendations it offers at the top of the page, it might be an item or product that you have recently taken an interest in, despite looking it up on the Amazon mobile app. Lastly, sensitive data leakage is always a threat to consumers with their credit card information stored on their phone through any of these mobile apps. Because they are online shopping apps, it brings more of a threat to consumer privacy and data, being hackers can steal this information. While it might be convenient to have your card info stored within the app, there always comes a risk of unsafe sensitive data transmission and sensitive data leakage through each app. 2. Forever21: Forever21's customer service in-person and through their mobile app are both lousy. The biggest issue with the mobile app is their delivery process. Customers have complained about not receiving their shipment at all or paying to express ship an item and it takes two weeks. Configuring a different route for their shipment process will allow customers to be satisfied with their order. Lastly, the app has a slew of system failures that log customers out and disable the notifications. Being able to have a fully dependable app servicing will allow customers to rely on Forever21. Shein: Shein is very popular for their inexpensive clothing that can meet anyone's style standards. However, the biggest complaint coming from Shein is from their shipping - while that is not fully within the mobile app, the customer service to customers waiting on delayed products is not acceptable per customer service. The customer service of Shein through the mobile app is enough to make consumers back away from the app. All in all, though, Shein does have high-quality reviews despite their low-quality, yet very affordable clothes. The app is very organized and put-together. Amazon: One specific change that could benefit the customers of Amazon would be the addition of an easier, more specific search control. Currently, unless you look up an item number or specific product, thousands, literally thousands, of products will come up for one search. For example, if a customer wanted solid pink shower curtains, then only solid pink shower curtains should appear. However, with the way Amazon's search engines are set up, numerous products that do not fit the product description in the search box still come up. I think it would save customers a lot of time while looking for the right product they are envisioning. Walmart: Walmart's mobile app could use the improvement on their delivery side. The biggest customer complaint of the Walmart Mobile App is their mobile delivery process. According to customer complaints, some items may be delivered one day, then some may have to be picked up at the store, and some items will take multiple days to ship - defeating the purpose of mobile delivering. So, Walmart should conduct a process that is easy for customers and will be fully reliable and convenient for the delivery in the mobile app. 3.

The biggest mobile trend that can be spotted through Amazon, Walmart, Shein, and Forver21 is the mobile wallet. This allows customers to store their credit card information within the app to make for a more convenient checkout process. Along with the mobile app wallet, is the mobile app security to prevent hacking and invest in thorough cybersecurity per app. However, while there is more cybersecurity being invested into apps, the same security issues remain: hacking. More cybersecurity does not prevent hacking, but instead makes it harder for the hacker to leak personal information or retrieve credit card info. At the same time, the mobile app industry is still expanding at a rapid pace, and there will always be more room for improvement....
