NARRATIVE REPORT ON BRIGADA PAGBASA 2021
Project PBB (PAGBABASA SA BAWAT BAHAY) Theme: “Kabataan ay sagipin, Pagbabasa ay linangin”.
Richard Allington quoted that, “the best way to become a better reader is to read more.” That is why Caningag Elementary School come up with a project that will help learners improve their reading ability, help learners to develop their reading habit towards becoming independent reader and nurture a culture reading at home.
The Pre-Implementation phase, started on August 31, 2021. The Caningag Elementary teachers conceptualize the reading initiative and identify/selected target participants. It was decided that the struggling readers including all incoming grade 1 and 2 pupils will be the participants in the said initiative. The previous reading record or reading profile were collected with the help of their advisers. Limited face to face orientation with the parents was also conducted. Parents also signed an agreement form or consent after the orientation.
The Implementation Proper was on September 3, 2021-September 17, 2021. The implementation begins with pre-test among selected participants both in English and Filipino. Printed reading materials were given to learners whose parents were able to pick-up the materials in school and some were distributed by the teachers. Parents guided their children in reading the given materials. Teachers did home visitation to monitor the pupils individual reading progress. Overall, the Project PBB was implemented smoothly, and it was a success. Teachers planned to continue the project and hope the program will help advocates continuity in learning through reading amid covid-19 pandemic until the end of school year.
