Start internet explorer (the blue & yellow ‘e’ symbol in the bottom task bar). The main University home page appears from where you can access all of the information you will need. Click on the ‘Students’ tab and familiarise yourself with the content on the page. There are links to all of the General information you need as a student, Study resources such as the library and IT services, info about your studies, University regulations such as exam procedures plus advice about finances, your career and Health and Welfare. Click back on the Student tab and you are taken back to the University Home page.

4 myLboro Before you started your studies, you were invited to download the myLboro app onto your mobile device. This has a lot of the content that the main University website has, and it is all in one place for ease of finding things, but it doesn’t contain everything. While you work through this worksheet you may find it useful to compare the University website with the app to see what you have on your device and what you will need to use the website for.

5 Accessing Webmail You have been given a Loughborough University email account which is the only email you should use to contact your lecturers and tutors. SBE staff will not answer emails from your Hotmail or any other account as we cannot guarantee the identity of the sender.

7 IT Support and other University services There is a huge amount of information for students on the IT services website. The first tab on the left of the Learn webpage is called ‘University links’ 

Click this tab and choose IT Services.



Click on the Students block - here you will find information about buying printer credits, Wi-Fi access and computer lab availability. There is also information here about linking your phone to the University system if you haven’t done already so you can access your email remotely.



If you wish to change your password to something more memorable, click on the ‘IT User Account’ block, then on ‘Password Reset’.



Click on the myLboro block, here you can find out all about the digital register system if you ever have any difficulty with it.

11 Reading lists Every module has a reading list which is kept up to date on Learn which alerts the library to have the relevant books in stock for you to borrow.
