Description

Radiology Case study 2B- Reflection Reflection: Beginning this reflection starting at tooth number 1, 16,17, and 32 have been extracted. Moving to tooth number 2 which is a second molar, it has an occlusal amalgam filling. How I can tell is the clear line at the gingival margin covering the crown of the tooth. Tooth number 3, second molar, has a D.O amalgam filling. Tooth number 4, second premolar, has a composite filling. How you know is because it appears more radiolucent than an amalgam filling. Moving to tooth number 5, first premolar, also has a composite filling which is less radiopaque than amalgam. Tooth number 11, L Canine, has a composite filling. Tooth number 12, first premolar has a composite OD filling. Next to it on tooth number 13, second premolar, has a MOD amalgam filling. Tooth number 14, first molar has just a MO amalgam filling on it. Tooth number 15, second molar has a clear line covering the enamel surface or crown has a porcelains fused to metal crown. Moving down to the mandible, starting on tooth number 18, second molar, it has a cavity filling with an occlusal filling. Next to tooth number 19, first molar, has a cavity filling with an occlusal filling. Tooth number 20, second premolar, has a MOD composite filling. Tooth number 21, first premolar, it has a OD composite filling. Moving over to the other side of the mandible to tooth number 28, first premolar, is has two occlusal amalgam pit fills. Tooth number 29, second premolar has an amalgam MO. Tooth number 30, second molar, has a OD amalgam filling. Last but not least to tooth number 31, second molar has a porcelain fused to metal crown. Looking at the answer key going through I did better than my first one! Going into my dental book and learning more about what different fillings look like and knowing the correct way to chart helped a lot with going through. The ones I did miss was tooth number 3 instead of a DO amalgam filling it is just an occlusal amalgam filling. Then to tooth number 11 which is a canine doesn’t have anything wrong with it I looked at the radiograph and pano again and realized my mistake.

Questions:

1. What radiographs are used to determine bone loss? Vertical Bitewings 2. Describe film error visible in panoramic film? The crack in the pano where the mental foramen is located. 3. How would you correct cone-cut in a retake? When correcting cone cut it could be a simple move of the PID. If you cone cut the molar, you know to move the PID back a little to get the molars in the whole shot....
