The gears are made of different metals. Over the past year, 40 different types of steel and brass alloys used as raw materials. Even though this company has been up and running tend for 4 years, it yet still faces some major problems. There are several problems with this company. First, larger orders will delay some smaller orders because there is no specific work center that creates other larger orders. Then, the delays in-process orders, the under-utilization of machinery equipment, the jumble med machine shop process that leads to interference and error in parts, and lastly, the company has a bottleneck in production that is once again a machinery problem. The president of Eastern Gear Company needs to take action to solve these problems facing the company. His first plan of action he needs to take is to adopt MRP system. This idea can help him organize and control the work orders and plans he is receiving. This idea can help make his company more efficient. Next, the workers in the machine shop need guidance on which aspect has a higher priority to work on. The company should also consider emphasizing the machinists to pay closer attention to the requirements in the engineering drawing. This idea would save the company time and money by avoiding mistakes and the time and money having to rework on someone's gears. Eastern Gear Inc. needs to set up a closer relationship with its suppliers. Also, he should consider that he may need to change the machines or updating them. 90% of the bottlenecks is out of the machine. They may be outdated, unable to achieve satisfactory results

with customers, and conceivable catastrophic results may require an overhaul, which is much more expensive than buying high-quality innovative machines and stages for speeding up the production process of better quality products. In this way, the construction can be carried out at the same time to shorten the design frame. After reading this case, it has taught me how important it is to have a good process and operation strategy. The operation strategy is so important to a business.
