Case Study # 1 Frankie and Rudy: Two Different Worlds Rudy Paragas and Frankie Taguinod were classmates during their elementary school days at the Santiago Central School. Rudy's father was a merchant occupying a small stall in the public market. Frankie's father was a certified public accountant. Frankie was the better student and he got better grades than Rudy even when they were already in high school at La Sallette. Both became drummers in the high school drum and bugle corps, with Frankie handling the snare drum and Rudy the tom-tom. Frankie was a platoon leader in the high school corps of cadets while Rudy was a private. Later, Frankie enrolled in the accounting course at UST, while Rudy took the business management course at UE. Rudy was not happy with college schoolwork and he found it hard to cope with. He quit during his second year. Frankie got his college degree with flying colors and became a CPA like his father. He decided to go back to Santiago to practice his profession. By then, however, Rudy was already well entrenched in his business of palay trading. Rudy became so successful that he was able to diversify into other businesses like trucking and wholesale distribution of soft drinks and vegetables. Because of their friendship it was inevitable that Rudy would become a client of Frankie. One afternoon, Frankie was enjoying his siesta in his veranda; he could not help but think of the financial success of his friend. Frankie was a millionaire in own right, but Rudy was already joining the billionaire's league. Frankie could not believe that a college dropout would be richer than him. Question: What would you tell Frankie if he shares his thoughts with you? Answer: I would tell him that everyone in this world are different. We have our own world, own timeline and own success. We shouldn’t see our future based on what we have before or right now. We always receive a gift from Him and it is in our hands on how to develop and improve the thing given. It is in our hands on how to use it for our brighter future. I know Frankie did his best to become CPA or like successful person and I know for sure Rudy also did his best despite of circumstances and his family background. I could say it is not about time but it is about hardwork, courage, perseverance and right mindset and action that maybe at the beginning Frankie did not have but its not too late to practice all this skills. It can be learned, it can be practiced and it will be a habit. In addition, instead of judging him, he should be happy for Rudy’s success....
