Currently, we are passing a pandemic situation and all sorts of movements are very much restricted. Therefore, a start-up named Chaldal.com which is a Bangladeshi online grocer and food supplier is trying to solve our existing problems. Though it was established in 2013, at this time Chaldal is operating and providing all their services in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Chittagong and most recently in Jashore. To make sure their smooth operation, Chaldal has expanded to 25 different micro warehouses through they can provide 1-hour delivery for 6000+ products. Also, they emphasized their delivery system where almost 10,000+ orders per day can be served to 20000+ households across Bangladesh. To ensure onehour delivery, Chaldal maintains, specially, they have a perishables processing warehouse in Gabtoli for its vegetables, dairy, fruits, etc. Chaldal.com has ranked ninth in world's best 500 start-ups in 2015. Moreover, in 2017, they have received the Daily Star E-Business of the Year and later in 2020 Chaldal was announced as the best ecommerce company of the year at Digital World 2020 because of their quality of service during the COVID-19 crisis. Therefore, they have already proved their unique position in customers’ mind by focusing their competitive advantages to provide the best service to satisfy their customers.

4. Ans: As a CSO of Chaldal.com, at first, I need to identify their shortcomings then I can recommend several solutions for those challenges. The shortcomings of Chalad.com: The information of the products offered on website and mobile app are restricted. Customers need to zoom in to photos but can see no product description. Chaldal can therefore include the product description in the product section in depth. In our country, majority of the citizens can not available 24/7 internet connection so there are some users’ limitations. Secondly, Chalad.com has a weak brand restructuring and due to this pandemic situation transportation costs often raise the product’s cost. Thirdly, the worthiness of trust due to product visual description. Lastly, when a customer is not receiving the actual product or if there is any queries from the customer end then there customer is not very much responsive.

The strategies which they can incorporate: In the context of the product details, Chaldal could additionally disclose the manufacturing and expiry date of the products to increase customer satisfaction. Whenever a consumer logins in Chaldal can reveal the coupons, improving their system and bringing satisfaction to their customers. User-friendly apps, more comfortable and fast delivery services, keep containing the fresh products and offer a variety of items for the customers can be the strategies which Chalad.com can incorporate along with their operations. Therefore, by maintaining its stocks and strategically positioned throughout Dhaka, Chaldal needs to scale more swiftly than other online food dealers. Moreover, some special products are available for lunch that are not widely available for Dhaka's residents. These goods can help them differ from other firms. The people of Bangladesh still do not have comfort in purchasing food online. They can increase people's knowledge and confidence in order to change this scenario. They require intensive marketing, advertising and promotional pricing. They can educate client’s internet buying by doing so. The supplier must bring the product in a single bundle using plastic sachets or bags, particularly those that supply the products utilizing bicycles. Chaldal should lower the price of its bag and prove a little whereas Shwapno and other competition offer small and large bags free of charge. Chaldal can use its own name for branding on the bags it provides.

Q. 1. Michael Porter has given us the FIVE COMPETITIVE FORCES and that are widely used by industry and practitioners. Consider the 5 forces for Chaldal and come up with your analysis for each segment how are they dealing with that? (4 marks) Answer no 1: To find out the industry attractiveness, Porter has introduced the five competitive forces. Porter's five forces analysis is a great method for determining an organization's underlying strengths. This is beneficial since it allows Chaldal to assess the strength of the existing competitive position as well as they can focus on their competitive advantages. Currently for e-commerce based venture like Chaldal, we can easily measure the actual condition by anticipating into this industry. The analysis for each five competitive forces considering the Chaldal is given below: Intense competition among the rivals Currently, we are passing a pandemic situation across all over the world and all sorts of movements are very much restricted. In our country we have a moderate number of e-commerce based online grocer and food suppliers like Chaldal.com. Meena Bazar, Shawpno and Agora have entered the market but the quality and product prices of customers are inadequate. Suppliers therefore have less influence and Chaldal has a significant force in the business of e-commerce. Currently, there are few companies entered into the industry so that the competitive rivalry is moderate because except from Chaldal, there is no other well-established e-commerce supermarket in Bangladesh. Few physical supermarkets are attempting to enter the e-commerce

business but people prefer to buy from their physical stores rather than from their websites. Chaldal should not amplify their confidence by believing they are the only company in this field. Threat of new competitors: High Chaldal.com which is a Bangladeshi online grocer and food supplier is trying to solve our existing problems. As a participant of the e-commerce industry there are so many new companies are here. Chaldal is increasing and expanding its range but the new competitors like Shwapno can play a significant role in the e-commerce business. Currently, in our country as the entry is easier for any new start-up so the threat of new entrants is high. Threat of substitute products: Medium People can always go and buy groceries at the neighborhood market. Local bazaars are unclean in society and prices change significantly. Thus, customers may feel that Chaldal is most suited for grocery purchases because price and quality are highly durable. The potential for replacement threats is moderate since many local bazaar supermarkets are already growing every day in the local colonies. People don't have to go a long way to buy food or fruit or meat or fish. Chaldal should reduce its delivery time and product freshness, since consumers often do not acquire any fresh product from any local market. Bargaining power of the buyers: Low Chaldal is a worldwide e-commerce company with a very wide range of customers. Chaldal can also be said to have extremely strong control over purchasers because they ensure the price they give is lower than that generally purchased from retail shop purchasers. Moreover, if you order more than 200 taka then you get a home delivery for free. The bargaining power of the buyer is low as though they can choose from a choice and product type. Chaldal does not allow purchasers to bargain the prices of the products. The buyer does not have the right to verify or evaluate the quality of the products. Bargaining power of the supplier: High The vendors in Chaldal are relatively large. It can sometimes be found in ordinary retail or supermarket products. Chaldal has its own stock and shipments according to purchasers' needs. They also receive their supplies every day. Chaldal will disintegrate without supplies and the right price. The supplier is empowered to negotiate the price and if Chaldal is not pleased to do so, the provider distributes its product elsewhere. As the bargaining power of the supplier is high so they should be purchased from the source by Chaldal and made its own supply.

Answer no: 1

SWOT Analysis of Chaldal.com: Strengths: In our country, there are a few e-commerce-based online grocers and food providers, such as Chaldal.com. Customers' quality and product prices remain inadequate, notwithstanding the entry of Meena Bazar, Shawpno, and Agora into the market. As a result, suppliers have less clout, and Chaldal is a formidable force in the e-commerce industry. Currently, only a few companies have entered the field, thus competition is modest because, aside from Chaldal, there is no other well-established e-commerce supermarket in Bangladesh. Few physical supermarkets are striving to enter the e-commerce market, but customers prefer to buy from their real stores rather than their websites. ✔ They have a well-established brand image in the market, ✔ A secured site and apps to ensure the user-friendliness ✔ The have proved fidelity to interested customers Weakness: Considering the weakness of Chaaldal.com, sometimes they are failure to react effectively to client requests and handling their issue within a short period of time. Also, they have lacking of big imported branded products to compete in this huge market. They are not aware of the suitable time, so while contacting with the customers they are demarking themselves by calling the customers in a wired time. Opportunities: As the supplier has the authority to negotiate the price so if Chaldal is not satisfied then the vendors distributes its product elsewhere. Because the supplier's bargaining power is strong, Chaldal should purchase them from the source and make its own supply. Although a few physical supermarkets are striving to enter the e-commerce market, people prefer to buy from their real locations rather than their online. Chaldal should not exaggerate their self-assurance by claiming they are the only company in this sector. So, they can work on those areas to improve themselves. Threats: Chaldal.com, a Bangladeshi online grocer and food provider, is attempting to tackle our current challenges. As an e-commerce participant, there are a surplus of new businesses to be found. Chaldal is growing and expanding its product line, but new competitors such as Shwapno have the potential to play a key role in the e-commerce market. Currently, the threat of new entrants is high in our country because entry is easy for each new start-up. Competitive Advantages of Chaldal.com: Structured Infrastructure & Proper Inventory Management: Chaldal has a significant number of vendors. It can occasionally be found in everyday retail or supermarket products. Chaldal maintains its own inventory and makes shipments based on the needs of its customers. They also obtain their supplies on a daily basis. Without supplies and the proper price, Chaldal will crumble.

Fast-mover Advantage: The way they have introduced the operations, currently only a few companies have entered the field. Thus competition is modest because, aside from Chaldal there is no other well-established e-commerce supermarket in Bangladesh. Expansion Strategy: Chaldal.com, a Bangladeshi online grocer and food provider, is attempting to tackle our current challenges.
