KEY TERMS! clinical pathways - Sometimes referred to as care pathways, care maps, or critical pathways, are multidisciplinary resources designed to guide patient care. collaborative nursing interventions - Require consultation and coordination of patient care with a variety of members of the health care team. dependent nursing interventions - Tasks the nurse undertakes that are within the nursing scope of practice but require the order of a primary care provider (PCP) to be implemented. direct care - Interventions that are carried out by having personal contact with patients. evaluation - Examination of goal or outcome attainment by focusing on the patient and the patient's response to nursing interventions. implementation - Initiation of appropriate interventions designed to meet the unique needs of each patient. independent nursing interventions - Tasks within the nursing scope of practice that the nurse may undertake without a PCP order. indirect care - Nursing interventions that are performed to benefit patients but do not involve face-to-face nurse–patient contact. protocols - Written plans that can be generalized to groups of patients with the same or similar clinical needs that do not require a physician's order. standing orders - Pre-approved standardized order sets.! !
