 ssay Cinderella Man E #3

I don’t think anyone can really understand what the Great Depression was like unless they actually lived in it. We can get a bit of an idea of how it was for people in Cinderella Man. T  he characters in it struggle financially, which then leads to emotional problems trying to deal with that, but the movie portrays people being able to find ways to cope during this challenging time. The entire film is centered around boxing, as that is what the leading man does for a living, so that’s something people would go see for fun. Because who doesn’t love watching grown men beat the living crap out of each other? Or sometimes just the actual life out of each other (if you happen to be in a match with the lovely gent Max Baer). While it’s not really shown that much in Cinderella Man, p eople would go to the movies a lot to get their mind off of all the hard stuff for an hour or so. And it was pretty affordable. But if you weren’t able to go see a movie at the theaters, or watch a live boxing match, there was always the radio, which became very popular during the 30’s. Or if you were one of the rare upper-class people, you could be able to go out to a fancy dinner like James and Mae Braddock did towards the end of the movie. That wasn’t too common

though. And of course, people could always find ways to have fun for free. They were able to improvise and come up with their own entertainment methods. And finally, one of the best ways for them to have a good time was to spend quality time with their families. It was things like this that helped people pull through the Great Depression....
