Description

Lisa Price 10/29/2020 Dear Professor, I am 49 years old, married with six biological children three are triplets ages 30 to 17 and I have two step children. I have nine grandchildren ages 6 weeks to age 16. I have been in the medical field since I was 19 years old when I received my certified nursing assistant degree, then went on to get my Associates Degree in Surgical Technology then Certified Medical Assistant Degree. I decided to venture down a different career path about a year ago and when I made that choice it meant I would have to go back to college and get a different degree, at first I was very skeptical because I thought I was too old to go back to school but I have really enjoyed the classes so far I have found them to be very helpful and very interesting. I have learned a lot. You are never too old to learn, we only fail at what we give up on and I won’t give up on. The only thing that I wished was different is that I didn’t have to take a Math class, the one I took for my medical degrees didn’t transfer because it had been too long since I took them. I have learned there are so many people with the same different views as you do. I have always known and said life can change in the blink of an eye but this past week I have personally experienced it, I was delayed in finishing my assignment because my family has experienced the worst heartache we ever imagined and our hearts are still in a million pieces, my 28 year old nephew was found deceased early Friday morning, he leaves behind a 8 year old son. He was my sister’s only child and more like one of my boys than my nephew. So life threw me a curve ball on getting my assignment’s done but luckily all but this one I was a few weeks ahead and could take a few days off to regroup and be with my sister, so it’s so learning to stick to a schedule really helps. Digital communicating tools have become a part of our everyday life and part of our everyday normal. The one that I am very familiar with is and the most comfortable with is https://zoom.us/, it allows you to have private meetings, group meetings and break out rooms where you can have just a few people in one room from the original group meeting, this is what a lot of schools are using for virtual learning. Also another digital tool we use in the classroom is https://www.classdojo.com/, it connects teachers with parents and students. Students can share their work with the entire classroom or privately with the teacher. Each student can create their own portfolio with their information and they can add music and pictures to your portfolios. Messages can be sent privately or in a group through DoJo by teachers and students and teachers and parents. Dojo is free and can be created within your whole school. Digital proficiency is an amazing thing; I am a very organized person and very OCD. I have to have everything in its place or else it will drive me crazy. I may not follow a daily schedule of doing everything at a certain time each day but I have things organized. My husband says I am the type of person who makes a list about a list. I use my Microsoft Word and Excel to organize my documents and to create spreadsheets to help my on a daily to weekly basis. Sincerely,
