Week Three, Journal Assignment Jeffrey R. Hirschkorn, May 17, 2021 For me, I am going to zone in on a matter where it pertains to me helping those wrongfully imprisoned on convictions that were induced my constitutional deprivations. I have a pension and fascination to help those in situations where they have little or no support within the confines of the state prison system. Or, with family too! I am going to fictionalize the name of the person to protect his identity and ensure that no one takes the time to search his case as it is in a reopen status within the 5th District Court of Appeal. The situation took center stage last Thursday when his mother paid me a visit to my work at Dynasty Vacation Club unannounced. That is something which I frown on because I do not mix my work with passion for legal research and related matters. Nevertheless, she came in HOT and bothered claiming that I did not do all that I said I was going to do to help her son. I immediately went on the defensive and used my hand gestures and speech annunciation to illustrate that she is way off base and I got the data to prove all that was done on behalf of her son. She still claimed that the monies she forwarded to me for filing, copies and postage was not used for that purpose. I gave her a chance to vent because she has much on her plate, considering that her son has a natural LIFE sentence in the Florida prison system for a conviction out of Orange County, Florida which happens to be Orlando, The City Beautiful. Her son reached out to me because of others who I had helped and personally saw the results of hard work and success ensued. I cannot be held accountable when people do not want to listen. Or, on the onset, lie to their families with false hope. I am the type of person that tells it no matter how it is. So, after a period of venting; she then gave me a chance to state my case and my case is always contingent on definitive proof and then she could NOT say another thing

except that she was apologetic for making baseless accusations. Thus, my verbal communication with her was built on establishing that her son created a situation which did not occur. And, after allowing me to present my case, with a validated memorandum, she understood that I was the one who was telling the truth and had the data to back it up. Her son had her believe that I took money from his sister and did not use them for the intended purposes. I can tell you that I showed the mother every receipt for all that was used to accrue data and filings for the cases that I did assist her son in. With regard to non-verbal, I allowed hand gestures and speech impediment to allow for me to best argue my position at hand. I normally use hand gestures when I want to assist in conveying a particular message or theme when conducting myself. Such is true in law research and also during my work as a sales manager and hiring advocate at the vacation call center that I work at in Orlando. I have learned that when using hand gestures along with verbal communications (like rationalizing above with data) it goes a long way to clearly and diligently establishing a method of understanding and conveyance of a concept. All in all, the issue at hand has given me reason and cause to slow down in helping people because it is not worth my time to get approached by family of those I am helping and being falsely blamed for not doing what I say I am going to do. Therefore, I am going to worry about me for once and cherry pick the ones I want to help with legal research and theories. I am sorry it has to be this way but people need to understand when they push too far....
