FACULTY GUIDELINES: Classroom Conduct & Student Expectations Below are the expectations of student classroom conduct, guidelines, and consequences that may be referenced and implemented by the North Brunswick instructors consistently across all courses. (Refer to the *Student Handbook – for specific policies). Please review, initial, date, and sign the last page and upload it into Canvas by the end of week two. Failure to comply will result in a meeting with the course coordinator and may result in not successfully passing the course. STUDENT ID BADGES: 

Expectations: o All students are to wear the Chamberlain Student Photo ID when in the building and off-campus and at university-related locations, unless advised otherwise, for safety and security purposes. o ID must be above the waist, perpendicular, and visible. o For legal name changes, the student is responsible for notifying the Registrar, their course lead, and course and clinical Instructor.

Consequences of Noncompliance: o Students will not be permitted entry to campus, class, clinical/SIM, lab, or off-site campus-related events - without their Chamberlain issued Student ID. o Students may purchase a replacement badge for a fee if this resource is available (See Security for further instructions). o If resources for reprinted badges are not available, a Visitors Badge may be issued but will not be an acceptable form of identification for exams or any clinical events. o If there are no available resources to produce a replacement badge or a Visitors badge, the student will be required to leave campus premises until they can return with/or to obtain a new ID. o In certain circumstances, a valid State issued photo ID – such as a current Driver’s License may be accepted for the day for entry to the campus, Virtual/ class, clinical lab, SIM, or to off-site experiential practice.

ATTENDANCE- Virtually & On-Campus: 

Expectations: o Students are expected to attend and participate in the total course hours in the Virtual WebEx classroom, clinical/simulation lab time required to be marked in Attendance. o Students must complete and satisfy the total credit hour requirements.

o Students my not engage in any other activity including work during designated class, clinical or lab time. o Students must arrive on time and stay for the duration of the class meeting, lab, or clinical experience. o Absence or lateness may prohibit students from completing all criteria of the course objectives. o Faculty may request students to verify continued Attendance in the course via a “chat verification – code word” during the scheduled class or clinical time. 

Guidelines: o ONLY EXTENUATING circumstances-per the *Student Handbook and Operations Manual - will be reviewed and accepted for excused absences. o Students are required to submit an appropriate reason and documentation or other verification of absence into DocuSign. o Examples of extenuating circumstances include but not limited to:  Documented Medical Emergency for self or family  Documented Illness necessitating absence  Illness while in Virtual course/on-campus or clinical setting, or if the student is sent home as authorized by an instructor  Documented military or religious activities previously noted to Instructor  Proof of unusual commute or transportation issues limited to self, before the start of class or clinical instruction. o WHAT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE EXTENENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES - examples include but are not limited to:  Planned absences while the student is enrolled in the program (weddings, non-emergent medical procedures, appointments, vacation, and travel)  Veterinary appointments and, or pet issues  Job interviews and, or employee orientations  Traffic - as usual.

Consequences of Noncompliance: o Failure to attend a class for the total required hours for the scheduled course for any given day will be - Marked Absent. o Arriving late or leaving early from class or clinical may constitute - an Absence. o Students will receive a zero for any course assignments not completed or incomplete during that absence. o If the absence is not a valid extenuating event, students will receive a zero as outlined above and when such lateness interrupts any class activity, including but not limited to the clinical, lab, SIM, or course exam.

o Absences for SIM, lab, or clinical will need to follow the Clinical Event Make-up procedure. LATENESS: 

Expectations: o Students should arrive before the start of class. Students are to be on time* and seated in class. o For Virtual courses – students are to join the WebEx and be prepared for class to avoid disruption to the instructors and students by potential interruption to the lecture, testing, and, or clinical lab activity already in progress. o Students are expected to arrive at Clinical on time* and prepared to start the clinical pre-conference at the time specified by the Clinical Instructor. o While necessary at times to leave the classroom or clinical learning environment, (on-campus or via WebEx) during scheduled course time is considered a potential disruption. o Please use the following protocol below for “Re-entry into the Classroom”. *On-time constitutes the time designated by course start or implemented by instructor/clinical instructor.

Consequences of Noncompliance: o If the student is late to Virtual lecture or clinical, students are asked to chat a private message and or to email the Instructor to explain the reason for the lateness and ask to join the class. o TEN MINUTE RULE: Faculty may close the door on-campus when the lecture begins, ten minutes after the class start time - at their discretion. o If the door is closed, any student arriving late will need to remain in the Learning Commons until the faculty lecturing opens the door. Students May Not stay in the hallway. o Any student arriving late to a clinical experience may be sent home for the day and receive an unsatisfactory grade for that week’s learning evaluation. o Annotations of lateness on attendance documentation is at the faculty discretion. “Re-entry into Classroom” (used for bathroom breaks or emergent phone calls). o On-campus: - when the student leaves the lecture, upon returning to the classroom, they may knock and then are to remain outside the door. Wait for the Instructor to open the door to invite the student back into the room. (The Instructor will do this at a time in the lecture where they think minimal disruption will occur).
