Collateral reading 5 Article title: A systematic review of generic and special needs of children with disabilities living in poverty settings in low- and middle-income countries APA Citation: Lynegard, F., Donohue, D., Bornman, J., Granlund, M., & Huus, K. (2013). A Systematic Review of Generic and Special Needs of Children with Disabilities Living in Poverty Settings in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. Journal of Policy Practice, 12(4), 296315. https://doi.org/1080/15588742.2013.827141 Research method used: A systematic literature review Research Findings: This specific research design focused on Maslow’s’ hierarchy of needs. The research showed that when looking at Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, Physiological needs are most highly valued by this study (Basic needs), followed by the belonging needs. Finally, the caregivers valued self-fulfillment needs the least. The caretakers are the people taking care of people with disabilities. Based on the results in the conclusion section, children/but mainly caregivers who are responsible/guardians of children with disabilities noted that higher up on the triangle (ex: self-fulfillment need) are not as frequent as lower (basic) needs.

Impact on practice: The research is having an impact on me in the planned change process because I am not only using Maslow’s hierarchy of needs in my presentation but and interested/intrigued by the needs.

Overall, with the men and residential services, there was a significance in more needs relating to services. Impact on practice: This research has an impact on practice in the means that the specific consumer I am working with is older in age and needs assistance as this person ages. The study really opened my eyes to seeing and believing that as people age, greater needs arise....
