Description

COMM 1034: Final YouTube Presentation 25% In teams of four, create a YouTube video. Each person must speak for two to three minutes. Select a topic, and consider yourselves experts in the field, who have been called in to explain the validity of it to your peers. Create a company name. Prepare a concise yet forceful presentation with PowerPoint slides. Email your PPT slides—indicating which part you covered--to me with the YouTube video link. If you borrow material from secondary sources, you need to document it in APA format. Another faculty member is running a similar project, and he suggested that when you upload your video to YouTube, you just use your first name and last initial. Please do not use my name or the course name in the video.

Topics: 1. Your HR team is making recommendations to your supervisor regarding suggestions to improve employee retention at its small firm. 2. Convince the CEO of your company to invest in a logo change. Cover all aspects of this, such as cost, timeline, rationale, and company growth. 3. Choose two conference venues in two different cities and provide a comparative analysis of them. Recommend one to your supervisor; however, cover both venues in your presentation. 4. Select two websites that are related to business communication (e.g. dressing for an interview), and evaluate them according to relevancy, currency, professionalism, and effectiveness. Recommend which one is better to highlight at an upcoming conference.

Be creative with your presentations! Review the evaluation criteria so that you know where I am assigning marks. If you’re unsure about what to include in your presentations, please see the following topic ideas: Analyzing Employee Retention at a Small Firm: the significance of the problem, the causes of job dissatisfaction, the results of job satisfaction, employee retention strategies, and employee retention tools Investing in a Logo Change: time, cost, rationale, company growth (Use Coca-Cola as a comparative example if you want.) You may select your own company to design an original logo with a change that will be implemented, or you may select a current company that desperately needs a logo change. Providing a Comparative Analysis of Two Conference Venues: Provide information on two different conference venues (i.e. the Ludlow Hotel in NYC versus the Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai or choose similar conference venues (i.e. the Fairmont San Francisco versus the Fairmont Banff

Springs; however, recommend one over the other. Issues to include are the significance of the problem—perhaps a work/conference/retreat to build employee morale—two alternative options and a recommendation based on your findings. Selecting Two Websites that are Related to Business Communication (i.e. dressing for an interview), and evaluate them according to relevancy, currency, professionalism, and effectiveness. Two sports teams’ websites or two college or university websites also work well as mentioned in class. Which one is more effective?...
