Part II: After you watch the movie: 1. In approximately one page: a. Describe the most influential RICE power(s) used in the movie The most influential RICE power used in the movie was Communication skills such as persuasive ability and the ability to communicate calmly. In the movie, it can be seen that Juror #8 made use of his ability to speak and explain things clearly so that the rest of the jury would reconsider their first decision and finally change their verdict to innocent. b. Describe the least influential RICE power(s) used in the movie Although some of the characters in the film had already been part of a jury before, I think that Expertise was the least influential Rice power used. None of the Jurors was a detective, no one really knew what happened. There was a lot of assuming and hypothesizing and very little expertise on the matter as a whole. c. Which moment in the movie was most critical moment of power in your opinion? Explain why you chose this moment. For me, the most critical power was when the majority split side with Juror #8 in the “not guilty” position. There is a power with the majority and once the jurors were 11 to 1, in favor of the “nor guilty” position, it can be seen how Juror #3 desperately tries to explain the reason why he continues to think that the defendant he is guilty, until finally, it all comes down to him accepting that the accused is innocent. 2. Provide examples of how RICE powers were used to influence you in your life (past or present). RICE powers have influenced my life in many different ways. For example, regarding Resource management, my parents, who for most of my life have had control over my life, have greatly influenced my decisions. Currently, I no longer live with them, therefore the resource control now belongs to my bosses, on whom I depend financially for the salary they pay me. An example of Interpersonal linkages power influencing my life would be My best friend, who has a much more social life than I do, introduced me to her group of friends from college. Personally, most of the time I make new friends have been thanks to the group of friends we have in common. So, if it wasn't for the Interpersonal Linkages, I wouldn't have many friends. Regarding Communication skills power, an example would be that I consider myself a person who likes to listen to the opinions of others. On many occasions, people I love have corrected me with love and have persuaded me to

be better every day, and I accepted those suggestions because I knew that their main motivation was their love for me. Finally, an example of power Expertise happened when I was 18 years old and a returned missionary who was my institute teacher influenced my decision to serve a mission. He was a very good teacher; he knew the scriptures very well and I dare say he must have been an excellent missionary. So, he taught me a lot of things that helped me when I also served my mission. b.

Which powers most influenced you? (Explain) The RICE power that has influenced me the most is Resource Control. For example, my life has been greatly influenced by the Church and the doctrine of Christ, more specifically by my relationship with my Heavenly Father. With this I do not mean that I feel that God exercises unfair control over my life, rather than knowing that he is my Father and that He is the creator of the entire universe, I feel that somehow everything that He has revealed through the prophets past and present, is very important in my life. My Heavenly Father knows me more than anyone, He wants the best for me, and can also bless according to my obedience. Therefore, that knowledge has guided my decisions and my life in general.

c.

Which powers least influenced you? (Explain) The power that has influenced me the least is Expertise. In my interpersonal relationships, I have rarely felt that I depend on someone's knowledge or skills to succeed. Most of the time both parties are clueless, so we learn together how to deal with any situation that may arise.

Provide examples of the RICE powers you use in your personal/professional life (past or present). Resource Control: When I lived in Ecuador, I was a seminary teacher, so I had a kind of power over the young people in my ward who attended this class. Interpersonal Linkage: When I was living in Ecuador, I discovered the AuPair Care program, which would allow me to come to the United States to work as a nanny and study. While I was in the process of accepting the program, I told a friend about it, and today, we both applied to the program and live in the United States. Communication Skills: I feel that one skill that I have been able to develop over the years has been listening. On many occasions, I have used this skill to be able to resolve misunderstandings that arise precisely because of the lack of listening skills. Expertise: I am not an expert, but I am good at speaking English. Therefore, on many occasions, people have come to me for help translating a document or for private English classes. Even my parents, who have a hospitality business, need my skill with many of their guests.
