These are the different communicative strategies. You can be great in communication with these strategies, so I hope this will help you....

Description

1. Nomination - Nomination in communicative strategies as stated here is the presenting or opening a topic and start a conversation. It may start off with making inquiries, giving compliments, asking for opinion, or in simply offering help. This could efficiently signal the beginning or the start of a new topic in the conversation. Examples: Have you heard about the implementation of the face-to-face classes? You’re my new classmate, right? Would you like me to tour you around our school? 2. Restriction - Restriction in communicative strategies is about constraining or limiting the response or reaction within a set of categories or instructions in a conversation. Examples: In a class, someone asked by their teacher to deliver a speech about let’s say peer pressure. In this case he/she cannot decide to talk about something else. Police Interrogation- You are being asked about what you know about the accident. You cannot give information about something else beside the accident. 3. Turn-taking - Turn-taking in communicative strategies is about recognizing when and how to speak in a conversation. It gives a chance to all the participants in the conversation to speak and to avoid a person who is taking over the whole conversation. To implement this, you must listen to person instead of just waiting for your turn to talk. Also, when you need to take the conversational floor from the person who is currently speaking, always show politeness. In this way, you can have a productive and meaningful conversation. Examples: The spoken cues “What do you think?”, “How about you?”, “You wanted to say something?” provide others chance to speak. What do you think about the implementation of the face-to-face classes amidst the pandemic? I’ll order one serving of Jolli spaghetti and pineapple drink, how about you? 4. Topic Control - Topic control in communicative strategies is basically about controlling and preventing unnecessary interruptions and topic shifts in a conversation. This strategy makes the conversation to stay focused on the topic and keeps the development of the topic throughout the conversation. Examples: During a meeting, the president manages the communication. By managing who may speak, they can collectively develop the topic instead of a sudden shift. Speaking of sudden shift, for us to avoid this, usually teachers use this. we can use expressions like “Going back to what we’re talking about” and “Okay, so much for that. Let’s go back to the topic.” They help to keep the conversation within the topic.

5. Topic Shifting - Now, let’s talk about topic shifting in communicative strategies involves moving or shifting from one topic to another. This is used to change the topic to a new one which helps communication keep going. Now, what’s the difference between topic shifting and topic control? The difference between topic shifting and topic control is that topic shifting is about introducing a new topic unlike topic control that keeps a particular topic. Examples: We can use conversational transitions like “By the way, where is your little brother”, “Before I forget, the deadline of our activities in Oral Communication is on Sunday” and so on and so forth. 6. Repair - Repair in communicative strategies is basically about overcoming or addressing communication breakdown to send more comprehensible messages. Examples: What I am trying to say is that Philippines is truly the Asia’s pageant powerhouse. I am sorry, what do you mean by powerhouse? I would like to reiterate that the Philippines won titles in most prestigious pageants. 7. Termination - Termination in communicative strategies is the use of signals to end the conversation. In other situation, you may end the topic by sharing what you learned from the conversation. Examples: It’s nice catching up with you. See you around I must be going. I’ve learned so much about oral communication. Thank you for your time....
