WHAT I HAVE LEARNED 1. What is the essence of GAMABA? Do you think having two national credits for human expressions emphasize the gap between independent articulations and regular, network-based ceremonies and works of art? ANSWER: The GAMABA stands for Gawad ng Manlilikha ng Bayan and an award give to the prominent artists, to give honor to their excellent works, express pride to their contributions in arts and to preserve these and continue to practice and pass their skills to the next generation. Additionally, to show pleasure in their contributions to the arts and inspire others to do the same, as well as continuing to practice and pass on their knowledge to the next generation. Overall, it is an award with an essence to recognize the intangible cultural heritage of the so called “Manlilikha ng Bayan.” 2. How traditions become contemporary and contemporary becomes traditional. ANSWER: For generations and generations, a tradition will remain in use until it will become a contemporary. When a custom becomes so deeply embedded in society that it continues to be practiced in the present, it is said to be contemporary and current. I've discovered that traditional arts, especially
KRISHA MAE F. ALCORAN GRADE 12PYTHAGORAS pre-colonial indigenous artworks, are contemporary. They are living traditions that continue to be generated in many forms to this day. We reaffirm that, despite being founded on long-standing traditions, Philippine traditional art has always been contemporary in the sense that it is work that is being created right now and that continues to exist as part of a tradition's ongoing performance. 3. Contemporary art is an art of today, as a senior high school student do you consider yourself a contemporary artist or a traditional one? How and why? ANSWER: I believe, I am both the mix of contemporary and a traditional artist. Hence, it fascinates me when exploring current personal or cultural identity, offer critiques of social and institutional structures, or even attempt to redefine art itself. Also, folk arts will always remain deep inside my heart and I highly acknowledge or praise the traditional arts forms.
WHAT I CAN DO ACTIVITY 5: CREATING A POSTER Name one traditional art form in your community. Create a poster to promote it. It can be on long bond paper or you can digitally make the poster with computer. Explain your concept and share to your friends or family.
