Briana Nieves HIST-100 08/09/19 Creative Project The event I am creating is a soccer tournament combining all different civilizations and their people playing against each other to see who truly is the best civilization… at playing soccer. What will help them is having a good physique, strength, mentality, leadership and team working skills. The time era is going to be a different kind of time era and the location is going to be different too. Since we learned about so many civilizations around different times I didn’t know which time era to choose. So, the soccer tournament is taking place in Qualcomm Stadium in 2019 but with a twist. Let’s imagine that in 2019 we created time travel and anything was possible. All these civilizations are brought from the past to our present to play it off in a nice friendly soccer tournament and so the students of today can have fun watching a soccer game while learning a bit about history. Since this is being based off of them coming from the past, class and social structure will take a great part in this clash of civilizations. Obviously not everyone spoke the same language so this event will also help to bring all these different civilizations together in order to bond, not discriminate, and to be at peace not at war. I would hold this event in present time in order to avoid conflicts and superiority. In the preclassical, classical, and post-classical era civilizations where located in many parts around the world. It’d be better to have them all travel to one location and time era they know nothing about in order to keep the tournament fair for all. The brand- name would be The Soccer Classical and the name of the event would be Summer Prepost Classical. It occurs every 3 years in the same location and typically in the same month which would be June. The honored guest list would include Sargon the Great, Hammurabi, Qin Shi-huangdi, Muhammad, Euphiletos, and Eratosthenes. All these people alongside with their civilizations. Since some of these people do not know who the other people are there will be an event held for only the player before the tournament so they can have a little get together and get to know each other better. In this little get together they will be introduced and learn about each other and what they accomplished, good or bad. They would all be expected to behave well and if they don’t their punishment would be not being able to participate in the soccer tournament. This event is expected to bring out the best in people and to learn about each other, I know it won’t

realistically be easy but with the right rules and no threat to them or their civilization I feel like this could be a pretty fun and peaceful event. First Sargon the Great would start off by talking about himself and saying how in order to build the first empire he needed patience, innovation, organization, commitment, and experience. His origins had a big role on how he became such a great king, he was taught to make tools, survive, and how to make a better life for himself. Sargon and his civilization had early inventions such as a plow, cuneiform writing, beer, the potter's wheel, a chariot, a body armor, and also a weapon that revolutionized primitive warfare. All these things helped make their life easier, having better ways to communicate long distance, having better protection in war, or just something to help them have a good time. All of this led to him having a combined-arms force, a precursor of modern military units, combat cars, light and heavy infantry, and missile weapon. He was such a big impact to history that some of his political, cultural, religious, and military innovations are still used today. Next would be Hammurabi, he would say how we created Hammurabi’s code and how it was one of the longest to last. He tried to make life better for all such as in family, commercial, activities, and agricultural life. How Hammurabi was seen as a god-fearing prince who was well respected since he fought for justice, to destroy evil, for the strong not to oppress the weak, and to make his land a better place. What was not specified though was that all of this was for the men. Also, how every law on favored men one way or another, which might not surprise most of these leaders. Then Qin Shi-huangdi would go next and say how he was a good, calm, and confident leader. How he was at peace and the empire was at peace because of how the people supported each other by farming and students learning the laws and what's not allowed. There was no competition and it was more of a united community. Qin Shi Huangdi was more interested in people being educated in order for them to understand what they should do and follow instead of just being told and yelled at. After him, it would be Muhammad’s turn to go and he would be humbler and not say much and just go with how he wanted everybody to be treated properly, although it might’ve not gotten there he was always promoting how everyone should be treated equally. Then Euphiletos, and Eratosthenes would go up together and talk about themselves, an example being the main event in both of their lives which is one being a murderer and the other being the one murdered. It would go something like this; how the murder of Eratosthenes was not planned, however Euphiletos would say what he said then, “You preferred to commit a crime such as this against my wife and my children rather

than obey the laws and behave decently”. Also, how trust issues were being aroused. But he also explained how his ‘time’ was affected due to everything that occurred. How all these events affect him, saying it’s his fault that he ever trusted his wife to not cheat on him. This event beforehand would be kind of a sharing circle type of thing or a go up and talk in front of people. This will be a private beforehand event so there should be no crashers and as noted above behavioral issues should not be a problem because if they do arise they will be suspended from the tournament. Now to talk about specifics, the decor would all be soccer themed again to not favor any specific civilization, just soccer and flags from all over the world. The equipment needed would be the soccer balls and the goals. The setup crew would be the people that work at Qualcomm Stadium as same with the clean-up crew, they would be hired and paid for their service. The food and drinks served will what is served today there, pizza, hotdogs, funnel cakes, popcorn, sodas, water, lemonade, and beer if old enough to drink, so these civilizations can get a taste of new food and drinks. The main event would last 3 days, due to each individual soccer game lasting 2 hours, then plus quarter finals, semi-finals, and finals. I think this will overall be a fun and big event that is family friendly. The attire for those attending to watch would just be athletic wear representing their own country since civilizations back then didn’t have flags. Overall a great event to attend with nights and days full of amazing memories. Stay tuned to find out which best civilization is the best… at soccer.
