Divine Davis 11-4-21 Criminal Justice 140

The crisis technique I would immediately use to handle the situation is compassion because I have a daughter myself and understand how tough this is for a parent. I would be vulnerable for a little and give her my point of view of motherhood. Also, I would tell this single young mother that I understand what she is going through something, but this is best for her daughter right now. I would reassure her that when she gets everything together then I will do my best to help her get her daughter back. As a DCF worker I would try to comfort her in the best way possible and listen to everything she needs to get out. I would express my concerns to her and inform her about the visits she would get with her child and everything. To keep her more at ease I would tell her that her daughter would be in a safe home, and I would ensure that. Also, talking to her softly and letting her know that I cannot imagine the pain she is having. Another thing is I would give her my work cell and office number if she had any concerns, doubts, and worries. Next thing, I would explain is that this process is not easy and list the things she needs to do to get her daughter back. As a DCF worker I would let her know that I would do wellness checks on her daughter. To make her feel better I will tell her if she wants, I can let her know how her daughter is doing. Then, I would tell her that I am going to speak with my supervisor because I need the approval for her to see her daughter before court dates. I would use active listening and record anything down to talk to my supervisor about this young mother and her daughter. Lastly, I would tell her we can conduct meetings with my supervisor, and she can get all the questions out there. An hour has passed, and the mother is not complying with me. This brings me to use the mediation technique and I would call my boss from the phone in the room. The mediation technique can help us all reach an agreement with my supervisor being the third party. I would ask my supervisor questions and help find solutions in this situation. My supervisor will be able to

produce plans and solutions. Also, having my supervisor there can help ease the tension the mother is feeling and helps me not to feel frustrated as a social worker. I believe the situation will improve and she will understand eventually cooperate. As a police officer my first crisis communication technique would be negotiation because I would try to mediate the issue as much as I can. Another thing is bubbles are not weapons and force is not necessary in this matter. I think listening to the protesters and trying to find solutions will help the situation and it will open discussions about what to do with the issue at hand. Also, I feel negotiation will show the senior citizens that there are decent police officers. If they did not leave within an hour, I would use meditation and call the Ceo outside. Also, bringing the Ceo outside to lighten the situation could help people voice their concerns. I believe having meditation a third party for this situation is the best decision. Violence is not necessary in this situation at all because the protest seems peaceful, and the citizens are elderly. As an officer having the CEO of the power plant company come out and speak to individuals can mediate the situation and they can deliver the letter to the CEO at the same time.
