You are an investigator at your Formal local law enforcement agency. You have scheduled an interview with a 12-year-old female who has filed a report with your agency that she has been sexually abused by her mother’s live-in boyfriend. She will be arriving at your location in the care and custody of her aunt, who has temporary custody of her.

The interview is set at a specific time within the agency, and one family member attends with her.
As a victim, she is naturally going to be uncomfortable telling her story, with peaked anxiety on top of that, but she wanted to speak up, so she had her aunt by her side to listen to her story and help comfort her if she needs a break.
The interview is in his comfort-zone, despite that he will need to be really calm, compassionate and fully committed to this young girl. She needs to see that he wants to listen to her and that he will help her.

The meeting is taking place in a courthouse, it is a government building. This meeting was also scheduled by both parties.
I feel this setting will help her prepare what is to come. She will be telling her story to someone she is comfortable with despite how uncomfortable the location makes her.
Given the profession of the interviewer I believe they will be comfortable and working to achieve the goal of the prosecuting team. This is not the first time having a meeting of this sort and the interviewer will be able to share more information with the victim....
