How do these roles support criminal justice professionals?

One may not realize that a community outreach coordinator could help criminal justice professionals. These coordinators can provide support in several ways, one being helping people gain access to the criminal justice professionals (Peak, 2021). Coordinators can also help criminal justice professionals to reach populations that they would normally struggle to reach out to, like schools for example. Coordinators can set up mock trials and even career events, or anything of the sort (Wyatt, 2021). Coordinators can also set up public community meetings to address certain issues within a community, albeit issues with criminal justice professionals or something that criminal justice professionals could assist with (Wyatt, 2021). 

What do you see as the benefits to criminal justice professionals?

The benefits to criminal justice professionals can often be overlooked as well. Civilians often just see the uniform or suit but community outreach and build a rapport between the criminal justice professionals and members of a community. The outreach can help the community trust the criminal justice professionals, but it can also help the criminal justice professionals understand the community they serve better, like the different cultures and diversity within their community. A positive side effect of good community outreach is decreases in the amount of crime (Wyatt, 2021). 

What types of skills do you think these professionals need in order to effectively do their jobs?

Since the margin for error in criminal justice is quite small, criminal justice professionals should have quite a few skills to effectively do their jobs and a lot of those are soft skills. Any

professional, especially criminal justice professional, should have the utmost honesty, integrity, and ethics. Other skills and abilities needed would be critical decision making, active listening, public speaking, time management, report writing, empathy, compassion, adaptability, conflict resolution, a calm demeanor, and physical fitness (in law enforcement). One could argue that some of these may be considered personality traits but I think they are skills, as they can be worked on consistently and can constantly be improved.
