CT3 – 16314 Assessment task 3: Industry Critique and Defect Response Total Assessment Weight: 35% The intent of this assignment is to: -
enable students to experience a potential defect claim situation from the position of the builder;
-
demonstrate to students how technical non-compliance, or alleged technical non-compliance, can affect the handover and post-handover process on a construction project; and
-
allow students to understand how building practices, building elements and Australian Standards interrelate.
This assessment is based on a real industry scenario/s and is structured to inform the students of current industry practice when dealing with building quality in reference to Australian Standards, It also hopes to motivate students to further their understanding of Australian Standards and in doing so, prepare an alternative sections of the Australian Standard.
Assessment 3: This brief is still be finalised, however, in summary your assessment task will be to: 1. Provide a response to a defect claim that has been issued to you as the Builder. 2. In preparing your response you will need be mindful of your reputation, commercial position, costs etc. without compromising a firm position in regard to the alleged defects 3. As a separate part of the assessment, students will also be asked to consider better ways to present information contained in the Australian Standard related to this claim.
Date: This assessment will be discussed weekly from Week 10 and will be due on 4 November 2020. The final format of this assessment is still be decided, however, it will likely be an online format via Canvas....
